DS-2CD2542FWD-IS infra-red not working

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone had any tips. I have two of the above cameras, for one of which I cannot get the infra-red to work (it used to!). They have identical settings (image->day/night switch=auto, smart supplement light on and in system->maintenance->system service enable infrared light) and identical firmware (5.5.3).

so, on one of them, in can see just fine in the dark, on the other one the picture is pitch-black.
from the outside, I can see on both that the red lights around the camera are on.

any tips appreciated.

That sounds like the IR-cut filter is staying on, blocking the IR.
Most likely mechanical, sticking a bit.
Give it a light rap on 2 adjacent sides, but not too hard to damage the plastic.
Even if it frees it, that may not be a permanent solution, but it would point to the cause.

You should also be able to hear it clicking on and off when you switch modes. If the filter is stuck on then you will notice that the colors are off during the daytime.
