Does this mean the HD for BI storage is kaput?

Doesn't appear to have anything stored on it. I see the DS alert videos but when you try to play them on BI it says "cannot be found". Also, REPAIR DB is moving at a crawl...after 10 mins only 3%. Finally, I don't see a drive E anymore.

You can't do that if the hard disk is missing.

Strange, I unplugged the PC for 20 secs then plugged it back in and now the HD is working again. Strange because I rebooted it earlier but that was not enough to get it to work again. Don't know, maybe the HD is starting to go out.

As I said time for some diagnostics, I fully realize that you can not test a drive that is missing in the windows OS, 15 years as senior tech support for about 1,800 computers left me with a bit of knowledge to carry around in my brain!

Have you opened up the machine and checked the drive?

Is it still there?

Connections secure? Unplug and replug all of the connections (data and power) to that drive (both ends) to make sure there is no corrosion present.

I'd start with verifying that BIOS sees the device. If not, no sense wasting time with windows. If not in BIOS, next step is to reseat the connectors. If no luck there, I'd plug it into a USB-to-SATA gadget and see if that finds it.

Phil from Pasadena with 24/365/7 T3ch support is glad you followed his first step and resolved your problem!

Would you like to rate his service for assistance with “Did you try turning it off and on again?”,
