Totally confusing... Cantonk says I can't use H.265 because ONVIF doesn't support it...

But Dahua connects via ONVIF ... AND gets H.265. How can the problem be ONVIF for others, if not for any?

So weeeird.

Not weird.
Just different levels of the ONVIF specifications, and custom extensions.
You could ask a similar question 'How does a Hikvision NVR know the language of a Hikvision camera when it's connected as an ONVIF model?'
When trying to avoid the 'language mismatch' trap.

That makes sense -- basically, some have greater depth of "dictionaries, know the idioms, vernaculars and metaphors better." :) Yes?
