Dead IPC-HDW5231R-ZE

Hi there,

I've got a few IPC-HDW5231R-ZE cameras but one is now totally dead. It was working normally for almost a year and now it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there some way to figure out what has gone wrong? There's no route to host (static) IP and the web panel is just unreachable.

Do the IR LEDs show at power-on?
Does the link detect LED show on the switch/router the camera is connected to?
if so
Does the device show under 'connected devices' in the router?
if not
If the RJ45 cable at the camera end is accessible, unplug it and examine both ends for any signs of corrosion or water ingression.

I don't see IR LEDs showing during power on for any of the cameras including working ones?
The PoE link detect is shown, but not the network link.
I don't think my router can show devices that are connected if they're not using DHCP.
Tested a different device on the same cable and it worked no issue.

Reconnected the camera and the link was found and came back online.
Seems to have been a loose connection maybe?
 
You should really use self-amalgamating tape rather than electrical tape. When you apply this tape you peel off the backing and then stretch it which causes a reaction which then fuses the tape to itself to provide a waterproof seal. Some people also use die-electric grease but for me the tape if properly applied is enough.

Electrical tape in my view is a very temporary solution, even when used around electrical wires as it invariably will unstick itself.

awsum, is the grease applied inside the RJ45 connector before the crimp? Or is it applied on the outside contacts? Or both?
 
Yup, just a tiny dab on the contacts of the male connector prior to, errr ahhh, insertion should do the trick.
