Day/Night auto switch problem

I have a hickvision cam mounted over my front door which works fine but one issue I have is at night whenever the light is on in the hall way the camera auto switches to day mode due to the light behind it making it too dark to pick anything up.

Id rather have it in auto mode rather than scheduled switch. Does anyone know what settings I need to tweak to try and keep the camera in night mode rather than switching back to day?

Depending on the (unspecified) camera and the revision of its firmware -
You could try experimenting with the day/Night switch sensitivity value via the web GUI, under :
Advanced Configuration | Image | Day/Night Switch | Sensitivity.

But in reality what you've described may be more of a BLC (Back Light Compensation) problem than a Day/Night mode problem.
That's the next setting down from Day/Night switch.
