Hello all,
I felt compelled to write up an experience I had with downloading footage from my parents’ NVR. I bought and installed for them a Dahua DHI-NVR4108HS-8P-4KS2. Everything worked great except downloading footage locally via SmartPSS on their PC was somewhat slower than expected (see screenshot below). I had a similar experience prior to upgrading my firmware to 4.001.0000000.1 Build 2020-03-19, but upgrading their unit’s firmware did not result in a faster transfer rate. Oddly enough, downloading footage from their NVR remotely from my home was much faster (20Mbps, the limit of their internet upload…we live in Australia…)
After trying to download via ethernet (instead of wifi) through two different routers, using three different PC’s, temporarily disabling the firewall and virus protection and taking their computer to my house to see if the problem persisted, I realised that I was using an older version of SmartPSS on their PC’s, V2.002.0000009.0.R.190426, which I obtained from the Dahua wiki website. At home, I was using V2.003.0000001.0.R.200413, and after upgrading their PC’s to this version, the download speed improved dramatically (screenshot was taken with wifi download, when PC was in the next room away from the wifi router; I obtain about 60Mbps at home with a hard wired connection).
I know this seems like a silly mistake to make, but I though the Dahua Wiki (top search result when googling SmartPSS) would have the latest version of SmartPSS linked to its website. Hopefully this saves someone some time in the future.
Cheers.
