Anyone have a copy of version 4 firmware for the NVR5216-16P-4KS2E? This one has version 3 and I would like to upgrade to version 4

Thanks for the info. Is there any version that anyone has had trouble with? Is there a recommended version that has the best features with least amount of issues?

And any issues upgrading from 3.216.0000002.0 build date 2018-11-02 to the latest versions. I don't want to brick this unit

You wanted later 2024 FW
They made major security changes in July/Aug ‘24
I can’t speak to going from v3 to v4

Just make sure you want 4.0, once you make that leap no going back to old fw. Once in 4.0 can move in different ones in 4.0, also you will want to reset back to factory to clear out any of the old code. Might be files in folders no longer used. Making fresh is best after such an update from fw changes.

So you suggest doing a reset after the firmware is updated? Would you suggest doing a shutdown first after the firmware update before performing the reset?

Shutting down and restart isn't' needed as the system is just doing a firmware update.. Most times the reboot is an option for when there might be an issue with a device and looking to see if the reboot can clear that issue. Plus after an update it does Reboot. But no for me I would do as I did my 5232E-16P when I went form 3.xx fw to 4.0, I did the update, I let the NVR rest for 5 or 10 min after the update was done and system came back online.. Might have even looked though the GUI some.. Then after about 5min I did a Factory Reset of the NVR.. This way all old file system that might not have been over written is removed and only things that are required by the current FW is on the systems chip..

Many here will factory reset 3 times, apply firmware, factory reset 3 times.

Doesn't mean it won't take if you don't, but people that get "under the hood" of the firmware has seen that sometimes the firmware doesn't take properly even after a reset and it takes another reset, so many have settled on 3 as the magic number.

Ok. So, after you reset, do you go through the setup again after bootup or just turn it off and reset again and then rinse and repeat?

If you have a reset button, just hit it again when the initialization screen appears.

If you are doing thru GUI then just set up enough to access that page.
