Hello,

I have an NVR5216 that I am having issues with. No matter what I do, I cannot get any POE cameras to connect. Nothing shows up at all in the camera setup window.

I have tried factory reset and everything else I can think of. I have tried 9 different cameras and various cords. I can connect to the switch with my laptop but cannot see any cameras on the network.

Anyone have this issue before?

Thanks,
Andrew

Try this guide...

Yes, I was using the guide and got to step 4.

I have another NVR set up at a different location. I brought one of the working cameras and cords from there and get nothing on this one.

Try this guide...

Hi @acd333

What are the camera models you are using?

IPC-EBW81230
IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E x 2
IPC-B5442E-Z4E x 2
IPC-T5442TM-AS x 3

And I brought a 1320 bullet cam to try as well. It seems like the POE NVR is not providing any power.

Hi @acd333

Do you have a PoE switch or other PSE ( power source equipment ) .. ?

You can test if the PoE ports work to provide power to a working camera by putting the camera in a dark closet and seeing if the IR LEDs turn on .. ( if the camera is set to default and has IR Leds .. typically works .. )

I don't have a POE switch, but I'm trying to track one down just to get these things working. Any recommendations for an 8 port?

I'll try turning the lights out, but I'm sure there was no power. It is either some kind of setting I am missing or the POE isn't working.

iirc we have PoE switch list here someplace ..

recall Netgear BV-tech as brands others have looked at ..

I bought a Netgear POE and connected it to one of the cameras and the NVR. The camera lit up right away, so I'm 99% sure it is an issue with the NVR POE not supplying power.

Is there any way to use an separate POE switch (this one is 4 + 4 ports) with the NVR with more than one camera? When I try to connect more than one camera to the Netgear switch the Dahua NVR will only recognize one.

You will need to plug the POE switch into the WAN/LAN port of the NVR, not one of the channel POE ports.

Okay thanks, any special setup to do things that way? I imagine I'll have to individually access each camera to set the IPs?

If you are lucky the NVR will find them, but more than likely you will have to manually add them into the NVR.

If using an external switch, the cameras will all default to 192.168.1.108

You must connect one at a time, login to the camera GUI and change it to a different IP. Otherwise they will all try using the same IP and you will only be able to see one due to the IO conflict

Show us a screenshot of the NVR registration page with 1 camera plugged directly into a NVR PoE port #1

Thanks everyone for your help. I managed to access the cameras through the Netgear PoE switch so we could position them before our scissor lift was returned.

Great service as always from Andy, quick to respond and get a solution.
