I purchased this camera from an AliExpress seller, who claims that he sells original Dahua products. In my router web page I can see, that the camera appears as an attached device with 192.168.1.108 IP address, but the shown MAC address is different from what is printed on the camera label.

But I can't connect to the camera web menu, the page just won't open and I get This website could not be found page. I tried IE, Firefox with the same result, I tried to ping it - no response, ConfigTool, Smart PSS don't find it too.

Do I need to do something to make it work or this is a fake or broken camera?

I have sent a few messages to the seller, but he does not respond...

Well done for managing that.
Presumably you can ping 192.168.1.108

OK, just did it a few times - it says either Host seems down or - All 1000 scanned ports on 192.168.1.108 are filtered (550) or closed (450).
That shows there is no HTTP (web access) and no RTSP (video streaming) active and offered in the camera.

But also now try some higher ports to see if the Dahua-specific ones are listening
Maybe:
nmap 192.168.1.108 -p 1-10000

But also now try some higher ports to see if the Dahua-specific ones are listening

Thank you for your help.

So, I am trying that and either get a very fast response Host seems down or, after some delay, Host is up, all 10000 scanned ports are closed or filtered...

And again, it returns the MAC address which is similar to that one printed on the label, but still different

Something is wrong with the camera :(

It is common for the Mac address not to match. Reset the camera. Test with a short store bought cable.

OK, I unscrewed the upper part of the casing, found the switch, hold it pressed for 15 seconds while it was powered on. Nothing changed. I tried holding it before applying power, nothing changed. As before, out of a few tries to ping it, the camera either tells me that the host is down or that the ports are closed.

The cable is good, I have a Hikvision camera as well and it is working when I connect it instead.

the fact that the hikvision works on the cable is irrelevant. Test with a shot premade cable.

Tested with 3 different store bought cables, the shortest one 0.5 meters, unfortunately with the same negative result.

Thanks for your help, I will try to return it back though the seller still keeps silent.
