Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

Most of the starlight cameras I've seen don't have IR cut filters, so it usually acts as a replacement rather than supplementary. Although if you have *really* low light/no light conditions, I think you'll need something with IR.
that is not accurate....all of them have ir cut filters...

Why 5MP? Why not just 2,4,8 options etc?

Does the "starlight" tech make any difference when in B|W IR mode or is it only when in color \ no IR mode?

Dahua's Starlight cameras do indeed provide better clarity and detail at night in B&W/IR mode than typical cameras. Its all about the sensor allowing more light, and it doesnt matter if B&W or color.

Interesting. That does look like a 4K IP starlight model. They put it in the "Lite Series" rather than "Eco-savvy 3.0" or 4.0 or something.

Can't find these to buy anywhere, but they are PoE 8mp w/ 1/2" Sensor and Lux ratings in the "Starlight" range.

@EMPIRETECANDY, it's weird that this camera doesn't have a Starlight rating (and appears in the Lite H.265 Series). Do you know if the Minimum Illumination specs are accurate? They're better than the 2MP Starlights...

Minimum Illumination

0.003Lux/F1.6( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.02Lux/F1.6 Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.6(IR on)

If these are indeed the same as the HD-CVI models, then the only thing they differ on is the lux rating (.005 vs. .003)...which leads me to believe if it's too good to be true...it ain't true. :-)

(Please prove me wrong, please, oh please, oh please..)

IPC-HDBW1831R (fixed focus dome)
0.003Lux/F1.6( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.02Lux/F1.6 Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.6(IR on)

IPC-HDBW2831R-ZS (varifocal dome)
0.004Lux/F1.9( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.09Lux/F1.9 Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.9(IR on)

IPC-HFW1831E (fixed focus bullet)
0.003Lux/F1.6( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.08Lux/F1.6( Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.6(IR on)

IPC-HFW2831T-ZS (varifocal bullet)
0.004Lux/F1.9( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.09Lux/F1.9Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.9(IR on)

Meanwhile these are everyone's favorites:
IPC-HDW4231EM-AS (2mp starlight fixed focus turret)
0.009Lux/F2.0( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.07Lux/2.0( Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F2.0(IR on)

IPC-HDW5231R-Z (2MP starlight varifocal turret)
0.006Lux/F1.4 ( Color,1/3s,30IRE)
0.05Lux/F1.4 ( Color,1/30s,30IRE)
0Lux/F1.4 (IR on)

Yeah I don't know what to make of the numbers.

By the specs, the new 8mp models have better sensitivity at long 1/3 exposure, but worse sensitivity at a more reasonable 1/30 exposure. Also they're speccing best low light performance in the 8mp fixed focus models whereas it was the varifocal models for the 2MP starlight lineup.

The specs compared to the HD-CVI models are eerily identical. If you check out the focal length (same 3.7-11mm zoom), aperture, everything...except the lux ratings, are the same.

Anyone find these to buy yet?

I wish someone could review this one from your list: IPC-HFW2831T-ZS

@EMPIRETECANDY any news on when 4K Starlight turrets will be available? Looking to purchase about 10-12 cameras and don't want to buy the 2 MP starlights if the 4K ones are right around the corner. Thank you.

The 2MP will have better low light performance. FYI this thread is about CVI cameras not IP based cameras. Make sure you pay attention to the difference.
