Hey guys, when I first installed my new IPcam I could get my snapshot working within a few minutes after install.
I use this address to reach the snapshot for my HDBW3449E-AS-NI:

It worked for 11 days on a row and then it stopped.
A few hours later I got it working again but then 1 or 2 days later it stopped.
Then I got it working for 1 minute and that was the last time I could use the snapshot url mentioned above.

I tried everything, resetting the device, installing again, set it back to factory settings, etc.
Everytning works except the snapshot.

My question:
  • is it possible that the snapshot function can get 'broken'?
  • Is it possible that the IPcam is broken?
  • Is it possible that the latest firmware is faulty?
  • Is the url I use for snapshot the right url for this camera?
  • is there an alternative snapshot url I can use?
I even attached my old Dahua IPcam and I got the snapshot working within a minute.
I even checked the settings and they are the same.

Anybody got an idea or advice for me?
Appreciate your replies!

Is this issue you posted on 1/1/21 ? ==>> Now and then no snapshot IPC-HDBW3449E-AS-NI

If so, please try to avoid multiple threads of the same issue.

BTW, 1 minute uploads (FTP) seems like overkill, most weather sites I've used prefer not more often than 5 minutes; I use 10 on mine.
What happens if you :
  • Suspend your software temporarily from performing the upload to your weather service for maybe an hour.
  • Power cycle the camera and wait 10 minutes.
  • Then open a browser, such as Chrome, enter that URL and hit <enter>.
  • If you get a snapshot, wait 10 minutes and try again.
  • If successful, wait 5 minutes and try again.

BTW, not sure if placing user/pass into the URL at the beginning and at the end is necessary or even a good idea.
Both of these URLs works on my Dahua-built Amcrest IP2M-841:

Sorry for the extra thread Tony. I was indeed in doubt if I should put it in the old thread or make a new one.
But, thanks for your reply. I tried your url and that does work in my other software (where I check addresses).

I entered that in my weather application and it said "webcam url delivers no data".
But a few minutes later I tried again and suddenly it showed the checkmark and the address was accepted.

Not sure if this will keep working, but at least I now know that the double user/pass isn't neccessary and that the 'new' address is the right one.
Thanks a lot !!

Yes, the snapshot shows the current image.
So the trouble is not because of the cam, it must be in my upload server.
The snapshot is now 2688x1520 in size and I can't change that in the admin panel (it's greyed out).
Do you know if there's a way to use a smaller snapshot?

edit: the image of the snapshot is the same as the main stream.
I just set the main stream to 1280x720.
Waiting now if it will work again and stay working.
Will let you know.

Hey guys, just a quick follow-up about my snapshot problem.
I was 1 minute away from returning the cam to the IPcam-shop.
After consulting a lot of people on forums, the shop and even the programmer of my weather software I got the 100.000 dollar tip.

I did two things:
- I've set the interval on the menu camera - video --> snapshot to 1 second again
and the most important thing:
- I've set the "Delete old files" on the menu: System - Auto Maintain to 1 day

After this the snapshots were available each time they were requested.
The webcam image on my website is being updated every 5 minutes without any problem.
And every 5 minutes a snapshot is being uploaded to my server for creating a timelapse.

It's working now for 16 hours straight.
That's more than in the past 7 days together.
So I'm a happy camper again

/edit: 39 hours and still working fine :)
