I don't have a NVR. I have DS-2CD2032F-IW . I'm having trouble with micro-sds. I have Tp-link VR900 modem/router. Can I record to the HDD which is plugged to the USB port on the router?

Yes I can. Here is how to:

Test and save, format it twice :)

Time to buy 2TB 2.5inch HDD now.

But, depending on the firmware version in the camera, there may be a maximum volume size (not free space) above which the NetHDD will not 'format' successfully.
For version 5.2.5 that maximum volume size is a little over 200GB.

I didn't know that :( Is buying NVR is the only way to record more than micro-sd?

Or can I upgrade the aliexpress version of the cam?

I feel like a saw a patch for this at some point. Do you know about it?
