Does anyone know what happened to the cam-it.org forum? It's been offline for about a week.
It was mismanaged IMO. At one point it had a moderator who made it his business to comment on many of the posts telling members what was wrong with their posts and how they should post in the future. He also seemed to have an obsession with trying to force all posts of like topics into one huge mega-topicalicious post (e.g., "Slow CPU"). At one point in time the owner issued a directive forbidding members from using American slang (e.g., "heckuva"). I believe that one of the reasons ipcamtalk.com was founded may have been it manner in which cam-it.org was managed. It isn't forums which are good, it's the members (and the manner in which a forum is managed) that make a forum good...or bad. Users will find a way; if cam-it.org closes then its members will find their way here and -- IMO -- here is a heckuva lot better than there ever was.I hope not, that was a good forum.
HERE HERE.I'm not going to miss it. The guy who ran that place wanted to control every member's behavior, a requirement which was not compatible with my American cultural heritage: Live free or die mofo.
