I'm looking at a camera on eBay with the model# IPC-HDW5231RP-Z the description says it is an OEM version of the IPC-HDW5231R-Z. Does anyone have experience with these OEM cameras?

Hi Kanaga,

Good question. Perhaps people here know the ebay seller?

I know a number of us have been purchasing equipment from Andy ( EMPIRETECANDY here on this forum ) as well as other sellers from Aliexpress.

Thank You

I looked at Andy's store in AliExpress, but he is currently out of stock. The ones on eBay that have the model number ending in RP-Z and listed as OEM are about $25 cheaper than the ones with The model number ending in R-Z

The ones I bought from Andy said RP-Z on the box too. My guess is the RP-Z is the unbranded version of the R-Z.

Just be aware, for Aliexpress it's common for the sellers to list items as being in stock just to acquire them after you place your order which does add to the delivery time. Dunno about ebay, but it's a good idea to check with the seller first as they may have to wait for the same batch as Andy, and with DHL vs ePacket, the shipping time is significantly different :)

fyi - Andy will give you a bit of a discount if you let him know you're from ipcamtalk - and that will include DHL for shipping, which imho is worth the few extra dollars compared to epacket shipping. ( which can take a LONG time and not very good tracking info iirc )

Last I recall him stating that he is expecting a shipment from Dahua in about 1 week on these turrets, his shipment had been delayed and he was already expecting it in. ( you can PM him from here )

If you PM him and get what you want RSVP'ed out of the next batch he is getting for only a little more $ you can still get the package sooner with DHL than saving a little and waiting for epacket shipping.

To provide some idea of this significant difference, my ePacket shipment of two Dahua cameras from a different AliExpress store were processed out of Shenzhen/Guangdong on 3/28 and did not reach the US until today, 4/15. Over two weeks, just to get to America? Sheesh. Well, considering it was "free shipping" I can't really complain too loudly.

That's actually fairly good... have had Aliexpress e-packet related orders take far longer.

I've had e-packet arrive from purchase to mailbox in 2-3 weeks. I believe a lot of it also has to do with "when" the seller actually puts it in the mail.

As for this specific camera/seller, I would be careful until you understand the exact differences of the model number. People are starting to realize the popularity of the starlight and you may find yourself getting taken advantage of if not careful. Epacket/China direct on eBay scares me because of checks and balances. AE is more straight forward with safety gates in place to protect buyer/seller if things get lost or don't go well.

Note that seller also has the R-Z camera that andy sells as well and it is more expensive.Dahua 2MP H.265 Motorized Lens WDR IR Eyeball Network Dome Camera HDW5231R-Z New | eBay

IIRC, RP-Z indicates it come with the PAL firmware on it (which doesn't really matter since you can flash it to NTSC if you need to).

That makes perfect sense. The RP-Z cameras I received were indeed PAL... until I flashed them to NTSC.

Sometimes we updated them into ntsc but normally time too short. Every camera needs 3-4 mins finish the upgrading .200pcs needs 800 mins. So do as many as we can do. The only difference is logo and no logo. Actually speaking logo ones we can get them too. Price higher~ warranty is the same from us, so not be a big problem. These days little free so can talk here now. Lol~
