Im on the verge of buying the 5631, but there's also the 4631 C-A and ASE available for literally half the price. I've heard that the hacked english versions can't be upgraded. But what if I do not want to upgrade. And the hacked version has NO cons?

Is the benefits of the 5631 just a bit better specs with english firmware?

5631 is eco-professional model ,
others lite models, ASE is good, 4631C-A not original english, please not use it, dahua new firmware will blocked these cams and nvrs.

The 5631R-ZE is a Vari-focal Zoom model: https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/14291

whereas the 4631EM-ASE is a Fixed Lens that you have to select your focal length when ordering: https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/14271

You'll get slightly better optics in the zoom model but it is also a larger camera (speaking of the Dome/Turret version).

Thank you. Also i noticed that there is also a 4431em ase and as. Is the ePOE versions just for a longer cable length? Any other benefits of the ASE ePoe versions?

EPOE cams only work under EPOE NVR or EPOE switch and using cat6 can reach a longer distance. With longer distance and faster data transfer, this is the main benefit.

ePOE Cams will also work with Regular NVR and PoE Switches, just at normal speeds and distances. I'm using several w/ a Reolink NVR and PoE injector (standard) and it works fine. You will not get ePoE length cable runs and speeds is the only caveat.
