POE ONVIF compatible doorbell with WiFi/poe chimes

Yeah, I watched... and I liked. A Lot.

POE ONVIF compatible doorbell with WiFi/poe chimes

Yeah... not sure why I've never seen it. Sometimes it's actually good when someone posts old crap. :) Glad to see it. Now I'm wondering if there hasn't been something even better put out there. Ugh.

POE ONVIF compatible doorbell with WiFi/poe chimes

Nothing but uncontrolled tears of joy stream down my face. I shall be hitting his affiliate links tomorrow. Seriously... THANK YOU for sharing this. I've had a green Cat 6 cable hanging out of our new addition brick since last year! I hear about it from the wife every day she comes home...

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

It really is a great design and is exactly what I would hope for in a db cam from an appearance perspective. But the cloud and subscription service thing... I just can't. I still find it hard to wrap my head around why no other company has taken this on and produced one that can be used without...

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Haha! Yes... Finding this site is what made me run almost 1000ft of Cat 6 when we did a small 8'x17' mudroom on the backside of the house. Now we need to buy a washer/dryer set so I can hook them up to the network... along with new PoE wall/ceiling speakers and pet food dispenser. :)

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Much appreciate the additional insights. I just started using Discord as a messaging platform and have to look into that as a consideration in addition to Telegram. I didn't realize Node-Red and Home Assistant were free. I've been out of the game for too long. This is shaping up to be a...

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Thanks Devastator! This is BEAUTIFUL. As an old enterprise architecture guy, I have an appreciation for what you've done here. I'm not familiar with Telegram but a very quick google search and some assumptions leads me to believe you are using the Telegram App for notifications. You and Holbs...

Great... didn't think of that? Again... can nothing be easy???

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Outstanding! All this makes sense... but I STILL struggle to understand why $200 PoE DB cams aren't available for us! :) Don't respond to that! You already answered. I don't know why but it is one of those little things that just makes me nuts. Honestly, really appreciate the insights.

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

So what are the chances I could just run this dual-boobie-cam straight into my PoE switch?

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Yeah... have a PoE switch where I'm running a few lines around the house plus my Unifi AP. I need to do more research but I am hoping I can use my existing PoE switch when I start setting up camera's around the exterior.

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Looks like a great option! I'll look in to it. I Just need to know how it's powered. I have the light switch on the interior next to the back door... near (but not too close) where the camera would be mounted outside. To be honest, I don't care too much about having the chimes and the ability...

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Unless I change my criteria to include anything over $400. Ugh. I guess I need to cut that line hanging out of the wall. :(

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

Thanks, Holbs. I totally agree with you on the R&D thing and a company tackling the low hanging fruit. The wireless approach for the majority is where the easy money is found. Regarding my use of "true PoE". That's just my ignorance of networking and PoE. I'm just starting to tread into...

Giving up: Just want a true PoE DB Cam...

... for under $200US. After a couple of years of looking/waiting for a DB cam I'm seriously on the verge of giving up. We had an extension put on to the back of the house and I pre-wired Cat6 for security cams and even ran a line specifically for a DB cam. Granted, I didn't do the due...

POE ONVIF compatible doorbell with WiFi/poe chimes

Wish I had something to share but I have not gotten any further on my search for a PoE doorbell cam. I don't have a requirement for the chime so I'm not even looking at that feature. If you already haven't, you may want to create a new thread here under "Doorbells" to broaden the target...

POE ONVIF compatible doorbell with WiFi/poe chimes

Did the DB Camera require a PoE injector or was it able to accept ethernet cable direct? I have CAT6 installed and don't want to bust open our brand new wall. I would love to find a DB cam at this price point that accepted PoE direct (without the requirement for an additional power run). I...

POE ONVIF compatible doorbell with WiFi/poe chimes

Does this HikVision DS-KB8112-IM hit the mark? Not certain this meets the chime requirement... I'm a total noob at this. I've been looking at installing a new system and have stalled right from the beginning. I too want a doorbell cam on the front and back doors. There seem to be plenty of great...

Backdoor Camera/Doorbell (Need to make a decision quick)

Thanks flynreelow... I'm looking to set up another hidden camera underneath the porch light (hardwired also). For now though, I really need a solid recommendation on a doorbell camera. I'm still open to suggestions/recommendations. The contractor is taking quite a bit of time to get back to us...

    Cat6 vs Cat5e

Thanks, guys. As a side observation (maybe for another thread even), the cost of the Cat6 foil shield cable is twice the cost of the unshielded. I didn't do a lot of shopping but have seen some wild price differences for the same type of cable. I went with shielded because I have no idea what I...

Backdoor Camera/Doorbell (Need to make a decision quick)

Hey folks... I know I should do my own due diligence but I'm sorta under the gun to hurry up and pick a back door camera. We have the masons coming to brick in our new addition to the back of the house next week. I'm hoping to get some quick feedback/recommendations on a solid doorbell type...

    Cat6 vs Cat5e

Don't want to belabor the discussion here but... Is it still recommended to just go with Cat5e vs Cat6 for cameras? It's probably a stupid question but since I have an opportunity to run lines in a new addition to our home and have free reign/access to the rough framing. It's an ideal time to...
