Cable tester or qualifier for IP cams?

Something I discovered in relation to the comment above: "And that the cables aren't in close proximity to sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lighting wiring or mains wiring. " I've always adhered to this principle, hey, it's on the test. Last year we had a big remodel on our...

Recommendation for an email provider for sending BI Alerts

Followup: I created a new gmail account and applied the "weakened" security" setting and it works great. thanks The video author was correct in his prediction. Google changed all their setting screens but I was persistent and found where they put the security setting. Now only if Blue Iris...

Recommendation for an email provider for sending BI Alerts

I've been using AT&T email for probably many years to send my BI alerts (My email domain was sbcglobal to give you an idea how long I had it). Now AT&T first flagged me as a spammer, then it says I had too many bad logins. Their user support fixed it for about 5 minutes and it won't work...

Experience with Floodlight wireless IP Camera

I am hoping someone has a positive experience with using a Floodlight wireless IP Camera. (I cannot string a cable to the needed location). Obviously it needs to be BI compatible. There is a Dahua but it won't be available for months...

Recommend POE camera that mounts to pole

OK, I'll bite. Who sells a pole mount bracket for an IP Camera? Is this specific to a camera brand?

Recommend POE camera that mounts to pole

I have my weather station mounted on a steel pole and want to attach a POE camera to the same pole. I have mounted a POE camera to a wooden board and attached that board with 2 u-bolts to the steel pole. It does not take long for the wood to get all beat up by the sun, wind and rain. I don't...

Camera Profile stuck on Profile 3

That was it. The BI schedule had the checkbox "enable" checked. I guess I don't understand the ramifications of that checkbox. thanks

Camera Profile stuck on Profile 3

First, I had renamed Profile #3 in the settings. Now every camera has profile #3 (under trigger, profile). No matter what I change the camera profile to, close the camera settings and reopen the camera settings, BI has reset the camera to #3 Profile. I have no idea what I changed that could...

Seems like I can only pause cameras individually. Was this function renamed?

IP Cam recommendation for extremely low lux without IR

I have an observatory that takes images in the in the infrared (Hydrogen alpha band) and I can run it from my house. I would like to remotely monitor the telescope to make sure no cables are getting tangled. If I turn on the LEDs, my exposure is ruined. Currently I used a camera that does...

    Blue Skying for ideas

The Reolink prices seduced me. When they work they are great. I will definitely order a coupled of the Dahua or HikVisiions. Right now with 16 cameras running at 10 fps, my CPU is a t 52% and RAM at 5.71 GB so I don't believe it is a congestion issue. I keep hoping for a magic bullet because...

    Blue Skying for ideas

I have 16 cameras all running at around 10 fps. CPU usage generally runs around 50 to 80%. (Computer is a Dell Inspiron with 32 GB RAM and Intel i7-6700 CPU running at 3.41 mHz) The problem started after I updated to Windows 10. About 2 months ago my SSD died and was replaced. I thought...

email thumbnails are in lan dscape, Camera oriented in Portrait

Yes I have camera physically rotated 90 deg and BI rotating the image back to normal and not recording direct to disk; just emailing alert images. thanks.

email thumbnails are in lan dscape, Camera oriented in Portrait

When BI sends an email alert, it makes the thumbnails in landscape mode instead of portrait -- I have my camera rotated 90 degrees. Is there a setting for this?

    Text Overlay Problem

I have been using the text overlay for many years and several months ago I even started using BI Tools. All has worked well. Yesterday while I was rearranging where the text displays, the time got embedded into the image in such a way that I can not select it, and hence delete it. I inserted...

Is there an IP camera 'agnostic' NVR?

Because 1 BI Server could not handle all the cameras. Also each server is not a dedicated BI but hosts other applications. I suspect the cost alone will suggest I continue as I am doing now.

Is there an IP camera 'agnostic' NVR?

I have 4 Foscams (FI9900) , 3 Reolinks (RL-423) and 3 Toshiba (IK-WB82) IP Cameras. Is there an NVR that is compatible to all three brands? Right now I have the cameras split between 2 blue iris servers. thanks jim

    Overlay when WU is down

No it doesn't! In fact my weatherstation KCAPOWAY88 went down awhile ago and it was still reporting.. (It appears that my 9 cameras may be blocking the Davis weather station every so often and then the weather station chokes. Its back up again. I just purchased a managed switch in the hopes...

    Overlay when WU is down

My WeatherLink IP adapter failed and I am waiting for the new one to arrive. So is there a way for BIT to detect that the Weather Underground station is down and not reporting? WU shows this with the message "This PWS is not reporting Last updated: 7/13/2017, 7:34:57 PM, 4 days ago" All my...

    Foscam

I think many of us BI users have Foscam cameras. Here is some disturbing news and Foscam has known about the security flaws for several months. "Hard-coded Passwords Make Hacking Foscam ‘IP Cameras’ Much Easier to Hack" Hard-coded Passwords Make Hacking Foscam ‘IP Cameras’ Much Easier One...

    jpg sync loss

I looked at dahua but did not see a better camera with regards to an outdoor camera, with 360 degree pan rotation and optical zoom. Can you recommend an equivalent (I'd also like to see a built in microphone)? thanks much for the insight.

    jpg sync loss

Thanks. The RLC-423 is otherwise a great outdoor camera. It can pan 360 and do optical zoom. Hopefully they will evolve/mature the software. (FWIW, The Reolink software does conflict with my Fozcam plugin software.)

    jpg sync loss

I am using a ReoLink IP Camera. Blue Iris captures jpg's and mp4 with what I believe is a sync loss. I have the buffer set to 10 MB and it still occurs. I also have lowered the frame rate to 10 fps. My cpu is not overloaded. At first I thought the camera was not good. But when I run the...

    Unable to open file

I get the screen shown below whenever I double click on a clip to view it. I understand that when I save my clips as mp4's then I can't view the clip until it is closed. Yet I probably have several hundred clips in the list and none will open. Can every clip just always be left in the open...
