Trying to get off Port Forwarding Dependency

Have you tried using the "OpenVPN for android" client from google play instead of "OpenVPN connect" ? After the latest OpenVPN Connect update (version 3.4.1) it startet acting up for me as well, but the other app works fine. With no easy way of downgrading the OpenVPN connect version...

Cat6, Fiber optics, or wireless bridge to shed

BiDi modules means they are bi-directional and only ONE strand of fiber is needed for rx/tx because they use different wavelengths for Rx/tx and as stated on the website you have to use "matching pairs" because one SFP will transmit on 1310nm while receiving on 1550nm.The other SFP has to be...

    Router behind Router

Not sure if I understand your question correctly, but generally speaking two routers on the same network will make a "clash" as a router is what hands out your IP adresses via DHCP for the clients on your network that is not set up for static IPs. I am able to run my ISP provided modem-router...

    Dahua high power consumption?

I can read the power consumption for individual ports on my managed poe switch. All my Dahua OEM cameras stays around 2-3 watts when no IR is on. With IR lights on, they usually go up to about 5 watts, exept my 5241-z12e that has very powerful IR light. That one draws just above 10 watts.

I don't know the regulations or "code" in your part of the world but maybe it does not apply to off-grid systems anyway?

Wiring POE cameras throughout a forty acre forest to track brown bears...

Look for equipment for the european market, all consumer electrics are 240V. A standard PoE switch that runs off 240volts main with a SFP slot (for a fiber module) is what you need. A 1000ft run (333m) is easily accomplished. Keep the poe switch in a suitable enclosure centrally located and...

    EmpireTech aka Dahua LPR Settings

Yeah, mine did that sometimes too. Especially when a large object comes into view fast. Turn off "acupick" and it stops doing that.

Just think of 1 second being 1000milliseconds. So 1/500 shutter equals 1000ms/500=2 ms

    Camera reliability?

My first ip cam was a Hikvision ds-2cd3332 that I mounted outdoors in the beginning of 2014. I live close to the sea so there is a lot of wind, rain/snow and salt in the air. Had to clean the lens every couple of weeks...Even used an indoor rated cat 5 cable. I thought it had failed earlier...

Dahua IPC-T5442TM-AS random "no signal" in Blue Iris

I use several of tl-sg2210mp switches with a total of 8 cameras (5 of them are DahuAndy) and I don't have any "no signal" issues with Blue Iris. The only time I had that was a poor connection in my patch panel

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Somehow the IVS got messed up for my 4K-T a couple of days ago. It started when I logged on to the GUI to see if there was any way to easily increase the sensitivity for IVS but it was already set to 9. I use both intrusion box and tripwires. Yes, I only use Internet Explorer (the real deal)...

    Fiber to detached workshop options

I have several buildings on my property which I run fiber between the buildings. My choice is TP-link Omada. (Unifi is very good also) Each building of mine has a tl-sg2210mp switch as an entry point. (Fiber goes directly in the switch) I buy pre-terminated fibers and SFP modules from FS.com. Go...

Questions regarding 5241-z12e (Zoom and substreams)

I used a "plastic paint" rattle can. Antracit colour. First scuffed the areas to be painted with emery cloth before wax&grease remover and 3 coats with this. No primer this time. I have previously done it like this and it has held up good.

Questions regarding 5241-z12e (Zoom and substreams)

Yes, I can confirm that this worked. Very happy with how the paintjob turned out. Painted the white parts the same colour as my garage and left the black as it was. Stealth look :)

Questions regarding 5241-z12e (Zoom and substreams)

Yeah, I currently have my cam temporary mounted and wanted to dial in the zoom while viewing UI3 from my cellphone. The GUI does not work very well using a phone :) I was just curious why my 5442t-ZE will allow me to zoom/ focus from BI while this one doesn't even with the same config in BI...

Questions regarding 5241-z12e (Zoom and substreams)

I have just started testing out my recent purchase 5241-z12e from Andy which I am planning to utilize for LPR duty. First of all, what an incredible cam. Don't chase Megapixels!!! :) This has the new GUI which I am familiar with from my 4K-T. Question #1: I am not able to zoom and...

    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

I believe the closest would be the 5442T-ze EmpireTech IPC-T5442T-ZE 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP Ultra Low Light Starlight IR This has IVS and 2.7-12mm varifocal The camera of this topic (5442-z4e-s3) has 8-32mm varifocal lens so presumably that lens would not fit in a turret housing.

    h264 or h265

I have followed the advice around here to run 264. Bandwidth issues are seldom the case + Disk space is cheap and the savings are not huge. 265 also introduces more compression artifacts. I have noticed that many members that seek advice for poor image quality is always told to go for 264

    Need help configuring wireless Dahua

The default static ip (wifi) on that camera was 192.168.1.108 and the wired static ip was 192.168.1.255. I was able to connect to that by cable but I don't have any wifi set up in that subnet. Even if I had, I would have to make the camera connect to that ssid which it refused. I suspect my PW...

    Need help configuring wireless Dahua

Well, my problem was that I could not get the camera to connect to my designated camera wifi. From the cam GUI I could see the SSID but it refused to connect. I just now tried to change the password for that SSID to a pw that just contained numbers (8digits) and it magically worked. On the...
