    PC for BI

I use two 14TB drives, and I have no urge to downgrade.

    7060 micro useful?

I think I’m just going to use the 7060 for home assistant, and get something better suited for BI.

    7060 micro useful?

I am running an i5-7400 now, and It’s always seemed a bit sluggish. I only need 8 4mp cams full stream recording straight to 2 14tb drives. I’ve always had lost frames when triggered and wonder if the cpu wasn’t part of the problem. Would an 8th or 9th gen be better and more future proof?

    PC for BI

I am looking for something with 2 3.5” drives also, and I’m currently thinking an elitedesk 800 G5 sff might be a good option. Something like this maybe...

    7060 micro useful?

I have an optiplex 7060 micro, and I’m wanting to setup a new bi pc and also run home assistant. Is the micro format usable, or would I be better off getting a larger pc? I’m not even certain I can add another network to the micro, or if it has the hardware to be effective for home assistant.

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

Unfortunately, the cheap systems aren't a total scam as far as I know. Who knows, maybe I could get in on a class action later if they are? I guess it just seems like it would be a lot cheaper and easier to plug the holes with cameras than to actually patch holes in the walls. I'm actually...

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

I'm genuinely not familiar with where to buy some junk. This was my question to begin with, and my only real concern is that the footprint of the new cam covers the old ones. Even then I could probably just fill the exterior holes with color matched caulking and remove the cams all together.

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

FYI, my 2 worst cams are 2831tm-as from Andy for $59, and they have exceeded my expectations for interior use.

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

Maybe I will look at Walmart or something. All of the cams mentioned here seem like moderately decent cams and aren't what I would call cheap.

Selling house and need to swap in cheap cams

I am looking at putting my house on the market in the next month and I'd like to swap out my cams for cheap cams to fill the holes since the system won't function anyways. Any idea what I should look for in cheap poe cams? I want them to actually somewhat work and not be a total scam. Most of...

    Cable running ideas

Sorry, I missed the T. It is intumescent fire block. It is the type that expands when it gets hot.

Is inumescent caulk not typically acceptable to seal penetrations in residential work?

    Cable running ideas

I don't know the code, but I haven't seen a fire stop in typical height exterior wall in decades. My house was built in 1999 and didn't even have fire stops in the garage to house wall. I do know there are instances where fiberglass insulation is acceptable as a fire block, so maybe that is...

    Cable running ideas

I don't see why you couldn't drill the top plates through the attic, although it does really suck. Cut the bill off of a heavy ball cap to minimize scalp damage from nails. For the garage cams I'd just cut an access hole to drill up into the wall. Then again, I don't mind blank covers. The...

    Two new Dahua Turret Installs

Why would you use silicone? I don't. Butyl has been in use for nearly 90 years. Duct seal (at least Gardner benders version) was designed to be a less sticky alternative to butyl. Electricians want to keep drafts and bugs out of their conduit, but would whine like little girls about the...

    Two new Dahua Turret Installs

Anything that isn't rated for outdoor use is just not going to do it for me. Trust is not the issue, the manufacturers recommendation is my issue. https://www.gardnerbender.com/en/p/DS-130/Duct-Seal-Compound-1-lb-Pugs#

    Two new Dahua Turret Installs

It's pretty funny how we do things so differently. I use dielectric grease for two things, sparkplug boots and O rings in oxygen service. I use no-ox-id for any electrical connection that needs it. I almost never use electrical tape for any permanent sealing, and if I do I wrap it sticky side...

    Port open but can't connect?

It was never my intention to use wifi. It was just a chain of events when setting things up and waiting for my second NIC. I forgot it was still on wifi I've been staying with my mom who had a shoulder replacement last week. That has really put me behind schedule and made progress difficult...

    Port open but can't connect?

If I have a live cam going, it would say "lost server connection" or something to that effect. It shows how long the server has been lost, but will usually play for a minute or so before it freezes unless I toggle the protocol. The whole thing is extremely unresponsive. It just dawned on me...

    Port open but can't connect?

Just clicking and saving on the eero app. I have an Asus router coming, but I'm not certain it will be here in time. I may have to use a Walmart router temporarily.

    Port open but can't connect?

I figured out that toggling back and forth from TCP to TCP&UDP every 10 seconds will allow me to connect and be somewhat usable.

    Port open but can't connect?

I may have misunderstood when I thought there were ways to maintain the same ip regardless of what the isp changed.

    Port open but can't connect?

Yes, the wizard sets it up that way, and my router gives me the same address, BI is set to port 81 as is my port forwarding for that Mac that I set to static. I'd really like to get port forwarding setup so if my other planned method fails I can just open the port and gain access that way.

    Port open but can't connect?

I'm kinda stuck on setting up remote access via port forwarding. I can connect on my LAN through both browser and the BI app. WAN is a different story. The wizard can't connect, nor can I by any means. canyouseeme.org says the port is open. I have no idea where the problem might be so I...

    The neighbors who ask....

I feel like the usefulness of this is a little exaggerated on the forum. None of this will unsmash your window, return stolen items, or bring family back from the dead. Might it lead to a plea deal, possibly. Might you get $20 reparations when that person gets out of prison, likely. Might...

How many of you live in a "safe" place?

"Extreme" is as relative as "safe" lol. I once worked with some roughnecks from Alaska, and they hated North Dakota winters. They went back to Alaska pretty quick. Here in South Dakota, -20 isn't common but is not record breaking, especially in a cold year. Will I exceed the -22 rating of a...

How many of you live in a "safe" place?

I assumed it wasn't much of an issue, but I have had electronics start having problems 10 or 15 degrees above their low temp rating.
