    Camera locations for future house

Alright! So they have wired it up but I have some questions on the wiring.. I did see where it talked about to never run parallel to power, but these currently do run like that in some spots, so wanted to check opinion here if will cause much issues? These are cat6 cables, don't think they are...

    Camera locations for future house

Hello again! So the prewire is about to be done and the installer wants to install electrical boxes with wall plates where the cameras will be on the brick. So by the garage light sconces (#2, 3 and 4) and by the window on the left (#8). Does it make sense to do that from aesthetics perspective...

    Camera locations for future house

That part I understand, just per your initial post: Cam 4 use a Motorized IPC-T5442T-ZE or IPC-T3241T-ZAS, based on budget. Cam 5 for LPR use a IPC-B5442E-Z4E if within 90ft. Both of these are high under soffits, where as many suggested Cam 4 specifically needs to be at garage level for face...

Was referring to IPC-T5442T-ZE in spot #4, not LPR on #5, unless I'm reading wrong? If so, apologies!

Btw, framing has started, so pre-wiring should be in a month or so! Jut showing the wood if anyone's curious on the build process.

Per numerous comments from others, wouldn't #4 be too high for ID those who come up the driveway if by the soffit? It's a rather flat driveway. I can, and probably will, pre-wire there just in case, but just curious.

    Camera locations for future house

Good idea - the corner between garage and entry door will be some sort of shrubs/flowers, etc. So potentially can put it there, marked #11. Wouldn't it make sense to put two though? One facing the entry door and one facing the driveway? Then there's definitely not a need to keep all cameras...

    Camera locations for future house

Here's an updated plan. 1: LPR 2-8: PTZ? 9: General view 10: Flood Light With this set up I'm not sure I'll need all of #2, 3 and 4? Perhaps remove 4?

    Camera locations for future house

It will go in the basement, which is currently unfinished, so it's up to my imagination where to put it there once it's finished. If we decide to add a room in the basement, then will probably go there in the closet to hide from roaming eyes. Maybe even add a fake wall in the closet, hah!

    Camera locations for future house

I was going to potentially go with the vendor's cameras (from what I have been told 1080p varifocal Speco cams) but given uncertainty on what I need, will probably pass and do testing first. Don't have access to electrician, unfortunately. Only after the house is done can hire someone for any...

    Camera locations for future house

Phew! A lot of things to absorb and consider, so thank you all for the comments! Noted with thanks! Doesn't BI have sort of a real time alert of spotting people, etc? Lucky to be able to lay cable! I wish I had that opportunity haha! Noted on the rest. Any reason for weather cam that beats...

    Camera locations for future house

I was hoping to use soffits for mounting as to not be completely obvious where the cameras are. I assume no point at all in cam 5 then, besides general overview? Thought behind 8 is to catch whoever is trying to go up the deck. So even they make it all the way up it should take a clear shot...

    Camera locations for future house

Hello all! After posting in the intro thread, posting here for suggestions on camera placements for a new build, as I have an option to pre-wire. Neighborhood is in the quiet part of town, so not looking for extreme setup, but definitely would like it to be useful for ID if a need arises...

    New here!

Front brick veneer, sides and back vinyl. Arch on the porch is stone. Will try to post images tonight in the installation forum.

    New here!

I will certainly try to put conduits there, the only issue being whether they will raise questions as to why they are there. (as mentioned before, no personal work allowed) edit: on the second thought, I will be painting most rooms anyway, so in theory shouldn't be an issue to cut the drywall...

    New here!

That was the first thing I asked when signing a contract and was told a definite no, hah. In fact they only started allowing 3rd party to do it several years ago. Go figure. I was reading through installation thread and jotting things down, although given my limited knowledge on which cameras...

    New here!

Thank you on the tester advice. Drywall guys will just wall in the wires per builder's orders. The contractor who installs them will have to come back later and cut the wall to get them out in specified locations. It's rather rid but I don't have much pull.

    New here!

I would love to add as many as possible, with the issue being $$ for the cable. If I add a whole lot more wiring, perhaps the price will drop to $30 per wire or something like that. Thank you on the cable advice. Will definitely check with installer. Yes on the garage. House is in the dead end...

    New here!

Hello all! Officially new here, but have been reading for some time, mostly appreciating how much thought and work everyone here puts into their security systems! Currently building a new house and builder allowed to use 3rd party for pre-wire, so now in the planning stages where to place the...
