New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Mine too. I would rather have more view of the deck floor than the deck ceiling. I may get one of those 3d printed shims for vertical adjustment.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I got mine installed yesterday. Overall I'm very happy with it. I have it set up on my camera VLAN, and had the router assign it an ip address. It has never been exposed to the internet, so I can confirm it is possible to set this db up locally. I'm actually surprised at the image quality in the...

    The Unabomber died in prison...

Like that scumbag Boston Marathon bomber that made it on a magazine cover and all the girls were going crazy for him. I don't get it either.

UFOs, Extraterrestrials, Advanced Technology and Other Associated Weirdness

Agreed on most of that. But there are several documented encounter cases, while unproven, are not able to be disproven or explained either. Many of which are from reputable people in positions of power which would not benefit from telling their story- the opposite, actually. It may taint their...

UFOs, Extraterrestrials, Advanced Technology and Other Associated Weirdness

81 percent of adults believe in God... with zero proof, just as there is zero proof of alien existence. Yet the talk of possible alien existence is still considered crazy or irrational. With the size of the known single plane universe, the science part of me refuses to believe that this young...

UFOs, Extraterrestrials, Advanced Technology and Other Associated Weirdness

One theory is that the pilots/bodies that visit earth are inorganic clones of the actual aliens. Similar to how we are trying to make AI currently. The aliens might just control them. An unmanned craft can only fly here. It cannot walk around or do anything. Hence the need for bodies. There is...

Burying CAT6 in pvc conduit- direct burial rated cable needed?

I think I know what everyone will say- use direct burial rated cable because the pvc conduit will inevitably fill with water, but I am asking anyway. I am going to dig a shallow trench from my house out to my mailbox (about 110 yards) to put a couple of cameras out there and bury a 1 inch pvc...

Dahua and internet: What are the shades of grey?

If your router doesn't do vpn, you can use a raspberry pi or an always on cpu in your network to set one up with openvpn. Or a new router with built in openvpn are a little over $100. Or ZeroTier.

Easiest ways to view BI on remote monitors inside home?

Does any size pi work? Or would a 4gb or 8gb be better?

    Remote Cameras On Starlink

If recording is important to you, you might be better off running 2 seperate instances of Blue Iris. It will be more reliable. If you record the cameras locally, you eliminate the risk of missed recordings if either internet connection goes down. It will be clunky going between 2 servers to...

    Remote Cameras On Starlink

Looks like I read it too fast, I thought all cams were on one physical network with BI. In theory, it should still work how you need it, but maybe not at full quality streams. You are going to be at the mercy of your internet speeds. You will be downloading 2 main streams and possibly 2...

    Remote Cameras On Starlink

This is basically how I have mine set up too. You will not be able to access your full LAN as you would with a traditional VPN, but you will be able to access your Blue Iris webserver. In order for this to be possible, you will need to go into your webserver settings in BI and set your WAN ip...

    Remote Cameras On Starlink

Zerotier. It's free and easy to use. Lots of people here are using it. I have used it on my Starlink connection for a couple of years now. There are several setup tutorial videos online with step by step instructions.

    Recommended VLAN routers in 2023

I have not. I can't use a vpn: Starlink uses cgnat, so I don't have a public ip address that is routable from the internet. I currently use zerotier for remote viewing of cameras, which works pretty good.

    Recommended VLAN routers in 2023

I ended up getting a Dream Machine Pro, and I'm so glad I did. The amount of configuration that can be done is outstanding. Setting up vlans, routing and firewall rules, and pretty much all settings is very straightforward. I was also looking at the Synology routers, but they looked more geared...

    Ethernet in PVC conduit

I did this exact thing a couple years ago for a couple of cameras on my front porch awning. I punched a hole through the wall into my crawlspace, used a junction box on the outside, ran 3/4 gray electrical conduit over and up the outside support beam to the cameras. I painted it white to match...

    "Large-ish" Coyote?

Maybe a coywolf (coyote/wolf) mix? I don't know much about them but I've heard the are much bigger than coyotes. I'm not sure if you even have wolves down there to breed with them. Kinda looks like a regular coyote, though. Pretty tall one at that.

    Splitter, cable or other issue?

I just had an issue where one of my cameras stopped sending onvif alerts but the camera streamed fine. It ended up being onvif credentials as mentioned above. I went into the camera and could not reset the onvif account password. It said old password was incorrect, which I knew was not the case...

    IVS alerts stopped working

That was it. Onvif user password. What is weird is that I never changed any passwords for this issue to start happening. I only did the reboots and firmware update after I noticed it wasn't pulling the camera name in the find/inspect. I went in to modify the ovnvif password in the camera gui...

    IVS alerts stopped working

I've had a 5442 turret (IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE) in my barn for a couple of years now and it has been working fine. IVS alerts were reliable, with the occasional bug or spider triggering it. It dawned on me the other day that I had not received a false alarm in a while. No stray cat, bug, spider, etc...

    Recommended VLAN routers in 2023

I'm thinking of replacing my Asus RX-86u with a router that has built in VLAN support. I know mine can do it with Merlin firmware, but I'd prefer to use the router's stock firmware and would really like a router that can setup VLANs with a gui versus a command line interface only. I am looking...
