Alarm I/O and Audio IN, changing the color

ok, that makes sense. I popped the panel off the IPC-Color4K-X , this appears to be a mic or a speaker or both?? I dont see any other grills so this probably does both. Doesnt looks like any speaker I have seen before though. So just attaching ethernet I will be able to capture audio and...

Alarm I/O and Audio IN, changing the color

Thanks brother. For clarification, the "Audio Input" is for a mic but a regular ethernet cable connected to the RJ45 plug will handle two-way audio? So is the Audio Input cable if you dont use ethernet for power and use the regular 12V DC power cable?

Ordered the IPC-Color4K-X, came in like a day, crazy fast shipping. Thanks Andy! This is my first cam and I have a few questions for you guys. I can't seem to find info regarding this in the wiki or google or maybe my google fu is weak. I've got a set of wires I can't find any information on...

Thank you for the clarification. I don't the "s" or "2" defined in the Dahua wiki. What does the S2 mean?

    Calculating bandwidth requirement for switch

Thanks wittaj, great explanation and example videos. And good point on the bandwidth on the NVR. Something I didnt even think about. Like we talked about before, there is so much involved with these cameras. I am trying to think of everything and make the right decision before I purchase but...

    Calculating bandwidth requirement for switch

Instead of connecting the switch to my existing network that has internet access, what about just buying a cheap wireless router, dont give it internet access and just use it to administer the NVR/cameras?

    Calculating bandwidth requirement for switch

For a camera I am planning to buy, I found the following specs. Main stream: 3840 × 2160 @(1–25/30 fps) Sub stream: 704 × 576@1–25 fps/704 × 480@1–30 fps Third stream: 1920 × 1080 @ (1–25/30 fps) I would like to have 8 channels live streaming to a TV. The sub stream has terrible resolution...

    NVR PoE vs non PoE?

NVR doesnt have COAX. I have 2 HDMI and 1 VGA. Problem with the VGA is trying to fit that through walls, that connector end is huge. I figure I am going to have to drill or cut through a wood beam to drop cable down in between the wall, then add something like this on the wall to run the cables...

    NVR PoE vs non PoE?

@Teken , I am with you 100%. I am trying to keep it simple with good components. Whatever I skimp on will end up being a problem later. To add to this problem, I am too new so I dont know what 1st/2nd/3rd tier hardware is or even where to find or buy the "good stuff". What I really dont want to...

    NVR PoE vs non PoE?

Ahhh legit issue I didn't even think about. I need to measure but I think all the runs are less than 50'. I'll check though. If I need to use your idea, is this how it works? This is used to "extend" the range of HDMI, correct? I still would need the same number of HDMI outputs to the number of...

    So much information

Just realized I have been posting and I never introduced myself. I've got a bit of a background in tech and trying to install some cameras on my home. It's a crazy world out there. I found this forum trying to research camera technology. The amount of information on cameras is so overwhleming...

    NVR PoE vs non PoE?

Interesting solution. The only thing about that is the more equipment you enter into a solution, the more problems or issues you can have down the road. Just another thing that can go bad or go out. I figure cables are the easiest and less prone to disruption that another piece of equipment...

    NVR PoE vs non PoE?

Hello, the Cliff Notes say a PoE NVR is a simple plug-n-play setup, but is also less flexible and harder to work with than a non-PoE NVR. Not sure how old or current that statement is but are the newer NVRs with PoE capability harder to work and less flexible than non-PoE? My cable run is...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

Hi Wildcat_1, your review on this cam was awesome. I am looking into getting started with a surveilence system with this as my first camera. Still need a NVR. I was curious what NVR you used to test this camera? Unless I missed it, I didnt see it in your review and I am trying to do some...

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

I was able to get up in the attic and take some pics. I will come through the soffit like you guys suggested and run it down the eave underneath. I can see light from the attic so it shouldn't be too difficult. Since I only need roughly 100' of outdoor, I was going to get Shireen DC-2030...

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

I DEFINITELY want to save on the cussing. The easier the better. ST, I was thinking, what about an outdoor rated cable instead of having to use conduit? I was reading on that liquid tight and conduit is going to add some complexities. You heard of the brand Commscope? It is supposed to be very...

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

ST, I need a DiversaBit for wood, correct? what size bit would you recommend for this? You said I need to drill a 1/2 hole into the soffit. Is this because of the conduit? If so, what type of bit would you recommend for this? I checked the tools link in the wiki but I couldn't find any of the...

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

questions for you guys, sorry I am a little slow and not so handy for that conduit, how would I secure that to the hardie plank? does the conduit take paint well? should I insert the conduit into the hole I drill for the hardie plank? what do you recommend to weather proof the 2 ends where...

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

Hey Mr Tombs! I like your suggestion on running it outside but I need to check attic space first like you recommended to see how it is laid out. You have a link for that "flex r rigid" conduit? I tried a google search but came up with 0. I may have to end up hiring this out (bad back) but the...

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

I am in Texas. Actually down in Houston. How did you know? I will see how close I can get. If I can only get in the yellow cloud area, would I drill from the outside and use the fish rods like @sebastiantombs and @looney2ns recommended? Maybe try here?

help with fishing line through vaulted ceiling

I am looking for advice on how to fish two ethernet cables through Hardie board into the attic. The space where I am trying to fish the cables is a vaulted ceiling. If this isn't too difficult, I may try to do this myself, otherwise I will probably have to hire this out. I have never fished...

    Acusense and 1/1.8 sensor

This whole thread is solid gold. Great recommendation, I have an old computer I built years ago I could use for this. One clarification I have is on night coverage. I have read that IR is better because it is clearer at night assuming you have some IR illuminators. I was going to use the...

I can definitely try LOL. I wish I would have found you guys earlier! :banghead: I'm going to tell you I have been down a lot of rabbit holes and wasted a lot of time trying to figure this out. Yes, I believe the NVR has that capability, I'll double check. I may try to to return and go with...

    Acusense and 1/1.8 sensor

See what I mean, never a 100% solution. LOL. I did purchase a HIK NVR since I figured that was the direction I was going. If Dahua and EmpireTech work well together, is there a resource to determine what brands work with HIK? By the way, do you use color night vision or IR for your night...
