Effective light output per IR LED

Does anyone have a good feel for the light output per LED at some useful distance as it relates to camera shutter speed? I am not sure that LUX is a good measure at 850nm, as I expect that the camera is way more sensitive to 850nm than to visible light of the same lux rating (just a guess), but...

Professional video doorbell for a Small Business

It turns out the $500 used one from Amazon was gone today, so i ordered one from Ebay. I will see how it goes. It has lots of features that i wont need (at least at first). @catcamstar , The Dahua one is enormous, like the VE model appears to be from Axis. I would like to see Dahua and...

Professional video doorbell for a Small Business

Nice find @fenderman . It looks very promising (and expensive). The 90 page manual will take me a while to review. The data sheet is below if others want to review it. The only negative that I found thus far is its low light performance (without LED illumination) 2lux, which should not be an...

Professional video doorbell for a Small Business

Has anyone found a good solution to a professional video doorbell for a small business? GRANDSTREAM IP Video Door System seems promising at first glance, but others don’t seem to like it. As far as I know we are still suck with the Ring lineup, which is decent for various situations, but does...

    Missing 90 deg flip

It appears that my DH-IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 does not support a 90 (or 270) flip to corridor mode. Am i missing something, or is this a feature drop? Flip mode 1 and 2 fail and in the browser interface i only see 0 and 180). The data sheet shows 90 and 270 however, and it is the same firmware as...

Starlight under $100 with micro SD

I do not use the IR on the mini-domes. i use LED white lighting for full color recording 24-7. The turret is a better choice for IR although it is substantially larger if that matters in the location.

Starlight under $100 with micro SD

The best option for that location might be the 4231 wedge dome. It is a great camera at a great price from Andy. i would use the 2.8 for doorbell area or the 3.6 if not to get a few more pixels per foot. Aliexpress.com : Buy New arrival 2MP Starlight IR Mini Dome Network camera IPC HDBW4231F...

Dahua has lost its mind - Portable UAV Counter-Gun UAV-D-1000JHV2

If it truly works on the DJI phantom 4, it will likely work on all normal drones. I can see the guy using it getting shot for aiming what looks like a military rifle into the air. That would be ironic.

    Pre-event recording to SD card

I can not confirm the question. What i can say is that of the 10 or so cameras that i have that record 24/7 to the uSD card, none have failed in 2 years (knock on wood). I use the 128GB Samsung Evo drives. i get about 3 -4 days before overwrite. I believe this class of drive is rated at 1...

Gigabit POE switch for cold weather?

I like @SkyLake response a lot. Use a 40W incandescent light bulb for the winter in the partial enclosure and the temps will stay above 0C if there is no big drafts. I think you guys need to move to somewhere warmer, i am shivering just thinking about it. :) You should not need 1Gbps on...

HAC-ME2241C-W 2MP HDCVI Active Deterrence Camera

Audio out is a pain with most IP camera that i have seen due to no built in weather tight speaker or amp (not to mention not duplex for communication). It can be done, especially with a siren or trigger a klaxon, but maybe a flash of light (seconds long) so that it startles the individual to...

    Dahua IPC-HFW1831E (2018 low light 4K) vs IPC-HDW4421C (Chinese 4MP)

Big difference, at least for still shots. Good FOV and zoom. I am assuming the clock is off on one of them or that tree trimmer guy in red doesn't move very much :) Funny, i zoomed in after posting that and in the 4MP, it looks like a person, and in the 8Mp it is clearly not. note: You...

    Dahua HFW-1831E in-depth review

Interesting. apparently the data sheet (rev 01.01) has a typo, it swapped the vertical and horizontal numbers relative tot he URL. I think the URL is correct, making the 4mm the best choice for me. https://www.dahuasecurity.com/asset/upload/product/20180719/DH-IPC-HFW1831E_Datasheet_20180719.pdf

    Dahua HFW-1831E in-depth review

Excellent review! Thanks. One small note. the data sheet calls out 4mm as having 102 deg FOV, not 87 deg as the smaller sensors have. they claim that 6mm jumps all the way down to 64 deg.

    (8MP) IPC-HFW1831E Review

@EMPIRETECANDY , the 131 deg FOV and even the 102 deg FOV do not make much sense to me, with too many wasted pixels, except right at the front door where 8mp seems way overkill. I would prefer 85 deg, but would be stuck with the 64 (6mm), which i guess is why varifocal is so popular.

    (8MP) IPC-HFW1831E Review

    SD49225-HNI microphone inst. 9v batt.

I cant imagine that they MIC draws much power. Likely less than 10ma. If the 9V battery makes it all good and the 12V AC/DC brick is noisy, a simple passive low pass filter should clear it up, single or two stage. I would grab a 16V rated electrolytic (maybe 220uf) and a 1uF ceramic and a...

for that room i would likely use the Dahua IPC-HDBW4231F-AS in the 3.6mm lens at one or two corner walls. If you are set on wanting PTZ i would try out the new SD1A203T-GN, if you want IR or the D12203T-GN if you do not need it. +1 on @looney2ns
