Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

Thanks... Any idea what setting might be causing the pixelation on the video? (Look at my face in the beginning)

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

@fenderman , @bigredfish , @colmcille, and @alastairstevenson thanks for all the tips. @looney2ns thanks for the suggestion on the Dahua. I wanted to follow up this discussion. I finally got the new cameras. This is the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z that replaced my Hikvision. I like the picture...

Prep for new IPC-HDW5231R-Z cameras being delivered today

I'll apologize in advance if this is too basic of a question but I'm hoping to get some consolidated help. :) I have two IPC-HDW5231R-Z that are finally going to arrive today. Up until now I've been 100% Hikvision but I'm excited to see the low light performance and capabilities and then...

Recording continuous but marking where motion occurred?

Hi, this might be a silly question but is it possible to record continuous in BI but also mark on the timeline where motion occurred or something similar. I like to record continuous as I've had problems in the past with it not triggering. It's not a huge deal as I have plenty of space to...

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

Thanks... The police here actually can use the video. I gave them my video from last time and they called me back asking if I had anything clearer (which really pissed me off that I didn't). At least when/if it happens again I'll have a better picture.

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

I really appreciate all the help and everyone's tips. It's definitely coming along. I'm probably going to get to the point where I need balance my want for light and my neighbors want to not be blinded. :) Latest update. New Lights out front. Two 1500 Lumen LED Bulbs. Camera at 120 and 60...

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

It's BlueIris, it should be fine as it takes inputs from almost any camera I can find.

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

The light, unfortunately, is not adjustable. It's an LED light where there is no bulb and it's all built in. I might just replace it with two 1500 Lumen LED bulbs that are actually separate bulbs. I'll probably do all this today and post some more tonight. I think I'm going to try and order...

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

Thanks @bigredfish , that's a lot of great info. I do have an additional IR light that I could put up. With my limited testing I didn't find it did much good. Maybe I'm expecting too much or I just need a more powerful light. I purchased the CMVision IR110.

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

Thanks @colmcille for the reply. It does help validate what I'm seeing. I didn't know about the rain the the 1/120th so that's great to know. A couple of questions if you have the time: Do you have a suggestion on a camera that might give me better results based on your experience? (I do need...

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

Hi, I wanted to give an update. I had some time to put in a light above the garage door (about 10 feet up vs the 25 that the other light was. It took me a couple of days as I had to run a new circuit. Here are two updated videos. One is at an Exposure Time of 1/60 and the other is at 1/120...

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

I saw the post about the Dahua's but I don't remember seeing Hikvision low lights. I'll have to look and see if I can find them. Do you know off hand where SmartIR is or what it's called in the Hikvision? I can't seem to find it. Thanks. So would an IR Illuminator provide the needed light...

Sanity Check - Better cameras, IR Illuminators or tweak Blue Iris?

Well, I've had some cameras up for a while but I've mostly used them just to see what's going on in front of the house from my office. I woke up this morning and saw that someone had broken into my car in the driveway. I thought I at least would have some good video. Well, in my opinion, the...

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

I told them I wasn't interested in discussing it any more. They have very little answers and it's not worth the hassle. I'll look to put together a system myself for this.

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

I'm not sure if that's their plan. It sounded like from talking with him that he just wants to send over a contract and take my word on what I need. We'll see. I'm curious as well.

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

At $40 a month per camera it's out of the question for us as it's not a good value. He also has not confirmed which camera. My take on this is that he really doesn't know the answers to these things and every time I ask a question he's calling around asking others for the answers.

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

Baja, thanks for all the information on this it's very much appreciated. I have sent an email back over to the sales rep from Comcast to get further clarification but according to him, so far: The $40 monthly fee covers ALL cameras. So if I have 8, it's still only $40. The $99 camera was the...

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

That's a good point. I honestly have no desire for wireless cams. I'll check out the Hikvision NVR reviews and see how they are That's a good point. As for the NVR's, I don't really have much experience with them as, like I mentioned, I'm using BlueIris at home. Do they allow for movies to...

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

Thanks Randy, The $40 a month is within the budget. My problem is really the potential for the cameras to be junk and well 720p ehhh... Installation is included for free which would save me a ton of work running everything. I also have the concern that the rest of the HOA board is pretty...

    Comcast "SmartOffice" cameras and NVR

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Thanks. I'll need to play around with it. Question for you, if you know off hand, is it possible when using groups to have one camera that dominates the screen and then a smaller screen off to the side? Thanks

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

I love the improved remote live view. It's actually the reason that I decided to go ahead and purchase Blue Iris. Thank you!! One question I have. I'm trying to figure out a way that I can do picture in picture. Essentially I have a front of the house view where I want the front do to be a...
