Sending alert from BI on PC to BI mobile app clobbered zerotier remote access

I see what you mean. When I browse locally to the IP of the BI PC (two NICs), I am not connecting. I suspect when I was trying to set up alerts, I may have accidentally checked or unchecked a property, which has resulted in clobbered local access. If I can't access from another machine on LAN...

Sending alert from BI on PC to BI mobile app clobbered zerotier remote access

I got BI on PC to send an alert to the BI mobile app on my Apple mobile devices. But now access to BI from my iPhone and iPad does not work. I use zerotier for remote access and it has been working fine for months, prior to attempting to send alerts to mobile devices earlier today. Request...

Good deal Annke 180 degree dual 1/1.8 for $220?

The NCD800 has turned out to be an excellent camera for where I already have wire in place at the middle of a long wall. I updated the firmware to Hikvision firmware, and with help from earlier in this thread, got it working with BI. Recently I added a second NCD800 at a different wall. I...

Close off slot/hole in cam base

Thanks folks, saw that stuff in other posts, though have not used it thus far. Wondering if there might be a hard plastic or metal solution, and whether the sealant would hold up outdoors over time.

Close off slot/hole in cam base

Please see attached photos of a recently acquired Annke 191BI (rebranded from Hikvision DS-2CD2T87G2P-LSU/SL). Request suggestions on how to close off the slot/hole on the side of the camera base. If left open, that slot would let insects enter the box and build nests. That base plate can be...

Comparative specs of two dashcam models - now with link to video samples

As promised, they sent the comparative video footage: 2023 0608 4K VS 2K video footage.zip I opened up the samples from the lower res cam and the 4K cam side by side on identical monitors. At first I thought one sample was showing license plates clearer than the other. Upon more careful...

Comparative specs of two dashcam models - now with link to video samples

I was searching for a dashcam to retrofit in my car and came across a possibility that looks promising. From what I have read in this forum regarding cams in general, an increase in resolution without increase in sensor size can be counter productive. Of course surveillance cams and dash cams...

Good deal Annke 180 degree dual 1/1.8 for $220?

Nice video, good sleuthing finding it. Did you figure out a box to mount this camera on? Mine is still sitting on a window sill and I am on the lookout for an enclosed ceiling/soffit mount box.

Mounting a Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2P-LSU/SL on a soffit - what enclosed mounting box to use

When mounting a forum favorite 5442T turret camera on an eaves soffit with the ethernet cable coming through the soffit, one can use a PF130 or PFA122 box. The properly watertight connection of the ethernet cable to the camera pigtail can be stuffed into the enclosed box (I ended up abandoning...

Can IP Cams work without internet connection?

I used to help my electrician friend working on my house, and got some practice. Using the pull string to pull a huskier string might be useful, as would cable grease. Also, try a back-and-forth motion, and "feel" the cable. For some reason cable and tubing sort of kink and double over in...

Can IP Cams work without internet connection?

Recently I coaxed/persuaded pull-strings through 330-plus feet of ¾” buried conduits, with elbows and vertical risers at either end. I was skeptical this was going to work, gave it a shot, and it worked. It might depend on the length of conduit you are working with and how many bends/elbows...

Best as I can tell, that is an open box, no cover. Nice camera, and am looking for a suitable closed box for this cam.

HikVision DS-1280ZJ-DM21 correct way for a watertight installation

Edited: Base is 6 1/16", you are very close for an estimate from a photo. Base of cam is open, would have to improvise a "lid" for the pigtail hole. Cam base will not cover hole, see photo. A clear plan of action is a great start, and much improve chances of success. Thank you for the well...

HikVision DS-1280ZJ-DM21 correct way for a watertight installation

Cam is Turret Annke I9BH, aka Hikvision NCD800. Pigtail on caliper comes in at 0.84 inch. By way of reference, T5442T pigtail is +/- 0.50 inch. Both being soft plastic, reading is slightly different each time you measure. Let's say that the cam on my "test bench" is how it will install on eaves...

HikVision DS-1280ZJ-DM21 correct way for a watertight installation

I can only use up so much of the stuff for cams, so a roll or two each of 33 and 228 for me. The 35 is handy for color coding. Those glands for the boxes are going to be hard to figure out though, getting a size that the pigtail can go though, and seals up the pigtail cable.

HikVision DS-1280ZJ-DM21 correct way for a watertight installation

Thanks. If the box were mounted on a horizontal surface, such as an eaves soffit, is it reasonable to use a side hole, provide a drip loop, and caulk as above? On a PFA130 box with the gasket in the center, and a center hole and slot to accommodate the pigtail cord, do you suggest adding the...

HikVision DS-1280ZJ-DM21 correct way for a watertight installation

@TonyR Thanks for the definitive description on how to make properly watertight connections. What’s a good way to handle having a cable coming in/out of a junction box from a side hole? For example: I have an Annke NCD800/ Hikvision camera that I’ll mount on an eaves soffit, since there does not...

Plastic pipe to bury in yard as conduit for future wire pulls

I've seen both flat as well as corrugated yellow plastic gas line. In what is now my existing condtions, I had ended up with 3/4" pipe because I was not specific enough - I told my electrical sub to run me two conduits, and had the trenching guy ditch-witch the trench. The run is about 325'...

Plastic pipe to bury in yard as conduit for future wire pulls

@fergenheimer I take your point - about what the next person makes of the situation when they don't have all the initial information - houses and sites outlive people. That is why there are color assignments, norms, and customary practices. Context is important too. An urban situation might...

Plastic pipe to bury in yard as conduit for future wire pulls

The construction supervisor for the infrastructure build-out for the neighborhood told me they are supposed to go down 12" for the connection to the house. Service install is a different phase of the overall project, involves different people, and it remains to be seen what they actually do.

Plastic pipe to bury in yard as conduit for future wire pulls

I may have an opportunity to bury a conduit/sleeve for future ethernet and other runs in my yard. Getting wired up for internet service, and they will trench down around twelve inches to bury their line. If I happen to have a 100-foot section of 1.5 inch plastic pipe at hand, I might just be...

best, long lasting micro SD card in 2021?

Perhaps it's "risk sharing". Given a failure rate, the cost of warranty for that duration would make the product pricier than most people would be willing to pay. Five years warranty signals it is a decent product, and still priced attractively. Will do nicely for my new cams.

Blue Iris Windows 11 or Windows Server?

A fact to add to this discussion, based on personal experience. In 2011 I purchased from Newegg a Windows 7 Pro OEM license, and installed it on a new build. Eventually this build aged out and I set it aside. In mid-2022 I built a new PC. I had read in a forum that an OEM Windows license...
