Try Dahua, unless you have a reason to use Hikvision. I am not sure about the latest models but until not long ago they did have MJPEG, ONLY on the substream. I can check it if you need on the current models (-X and -X1). -

I guess you mean DVRs, and not NVRs? I think Hikvision firmware hasn't supported MJPEG or MPEG4 for years. -

You can do it if the remote camera is not connected to a integrated POE switch on the NVR. (at least with older firmwares you could not do it with integrated POE cameras, this might have changed, I have not tried in a while) -

Yes, that model has audio input/output. And yes, if you want to use Hik-connect app it has to be a Hikvision camera. -

The zero channel stream uses one of the outputs. If you want to be sure which one it is on your unit, just connect a monitor/TV/whatever to each output on the unit, a USB mouse, and play with what you are seeing on the outputs until you find out which one is the zero channel using. -

You do not need to open any ports at all if using Hik-connect. Only if you want to access your devices with web browser. That said, of course it is more secure to have VPN access to your devices.
