    I think that changed with FW>3.4.0. Using the English GUI to upgrade the 3.4.0 FW to 3.4.2 which caused the 7816E1 to revert to Chinese. I went back to 3.0.10 using uart/u-boot and upgraded to 3.4.0 which left the NVR in English.

    Hikvision NVR English firmware 3.4.80

    Did anyone else notice that this new FW times out on the web interface? On 3.4.62 I could leave a tab open on Firefox for a week and start video or playback anytime. Now, 3.4.80 seems to timeout after a period of inactivity. Or so I've observed. I have auto logout set to never.

    I think @Del Boy used the 3.4.80 FW from the HV Chinese site which should work on the K41.

    I think they did mix it up. My 7616NI-E2 won't accept the K51 file. It did accept the 3.4.62 K41 file without issues.

    Along the same lines as @alastairstevenson's reply, what type of HDD are you using? I've seen reboots using regular hard drives and when I switched to a WD Purple surveillance drive, the issues resolved.

    I think your issue is voltage drop on the longer length of CAT5e cable. The resistance of the 24AWG wire is dropping too much voltage at 4A. That's why POE runs at 48V vs 12V as that lowers the current to a quarter of what is needed at 12V so the resistance of the cable is less of an issue...

    I guess you could put an SSD in a fanless NVR if you wanted a completely silent NVR. Or if the NVR was installed in a situation that subjected it to high vibration or shock that could damage rotational media.     I'm running 3.4.0 so I don't know about #1 as I don't have emails working :( As for #2, the HV European site just seems to always be first with new FW releases, HV USA doesn't seem as aggressive when offering newer FW.
