    Pinhole security camera with POE?

Hi, I'm looking for a full HD POE pinhole camera with some sort of low light or night vision (I don't know if the come with IR). I want to fit in a small hole somewhere in the frame of entrance doors (on top or on one side) inside a small electric box. Sadly I can only find low quality and...

Confirmation (blocking internet access for "made in China" cameras)

So in essence (correct me if I'm wrong) you use the third network (the NIC on the mobo) as a sort of "garage" to tune/configure cameras before throwing them in the camera network. Well... this is veeeeeeery cool! :thumb: Great idea. I'll do the same. Thanks.

Confirmation (blocking internet access for "made in China" cameras)

I don't understand. You have 3 NIC on BI as follows: Home network 192.168.0.xxx Camera network 10.7.83.xxx POE Switch 192.168.1.xxx What is the difference betwen 10.7.83.xxx and 192.168.1.xxx? I get that you run cameras & POE on 192.168.1.xxx but what's the purpose of 10.7.83.xxx? What kind of...

Confirmation (blocking internet access for "made in China" cameras)

First of all thank you for answers :) Oh right! If I'm correct the managed switch was needed if I only had one switch in order to create the VLAN. Well, I already own one but I am more than happy to keep it as dumb as possible. My managed POE switch is from Netgear :lmao: And it was cheap...

Confirmation (blocking internet access for "made in China" cameras)

Hi, first thing first, it's true that designing the network of a new home is time consuming and requires rethinking over and over again all decisions. Anyway this is the current setting. Before I start drilling holes, I'd like to hear your opinion. In essence my main question is making sure my...

5 questions - UPS for 2 floors, HDMI over ETH vs Modulator...

Thanks. All clear :thumb: Good point. The UPS is from APC and can be connected via USB to the PC that also runs Blue Iris. APC software isn't very smart but I found a workaround. When power goes off it creates an entry in Windows Event Log. I can detect this event by ID and do things.

5 questions - UPS for 2 floors, HDMI over ETH vs Modulator...

Hi, I'm designing the network of my new home and I have a few questions. Hopefully you can help me :) 1) Powering hardware on 2 floors with the same UPS In my setup there's a PC hidden behind a fake wall that runs Blue Iris connected to 8 cameras powered via POE. In case of emergency an UPS...

PC build for 7x 5MP camera & more

Thanks. Anyway allow me explain myself better. I don't need face recognition or sci-fi tech probably used in Fort Knox. I just wanted to make sure that with BI & ONVIF I can take any camera with decent hardware without worrying about software.

PC build for 7x 5MP camera & more

After a lot of research, I am back with one simple question. When it comes to motion detection, image processing (eg. face recognition and stuff like that) and software, every brand has its own pros and cons. Generally speaking the more you spend the better quality you get. Since I am planning...

PC build for 7x 5MP camera & more

Oh oh! :lmao: That's why I love forums. Thanks! Reolink goes in my blacklist. I'll find something else. Thanks for explaining me how sensors work. At this point I'll stick to the good old 2MP (not less than 1/2.8") or 4MP (not less than 1/1.8"). I'll try to find some brand/camera with these...

Hi, new home new security system. I'm moving to a new house where I'll need 7-8 security cameras. In my current appartment all I need is a single IP camera, POE switch, Synology NAS and UPS. This system is pretty old (2013) and many things have changed so I face many new questions but first...
