Latest thinking on favorite low-cost POE (indoor)

Nice - the little cube looks like a great drop-in replacement. PTZ might be handy at times but that Amcrest isn't POE is it?

Latest thinking on favorite low-cost POE (indoor)

Several years ago I bought one of the little Annke POE cameras for the basement but it's starting to behave erratically so I think it's about time to replace. What's the latest thinking on a decent but lower-cost POE camera that might replace it? Low light is not particularly important but I do...

IPC-HDBW4231F-E2-M 'Boobie' Cam for License Plate reading?

Thanks @chaosengine - SUPER useful! Looks like I can get longer lenses with some of these so that's great. And I'm in LA so what is this rain stuff of which you speak? :)

IPC-HDBW4231F-E2-M 'Boobie' Cam for License Plate reading?

Hmm, yeah the photo I posted is a little deceiving... that mounting point is actually an overhang (above the garage) that's about 7 feet high. Sounds like even w/ the 3.6mm lens (thanks @concord for the direct link) I may be a little too far out. Is there a rule-of-thumb lens/FOV/distance...

IPC-HDBW4231F-E2-M 'Boobie' Cam for License Plate reading?

Anybody have thoughts on using the dahua dual-camera (boobie) cam for LPR purposes? I'm trying to capture plates coming up and down the alley behind my house (see attached image) and ideally wouldn't have to mount TWO cameras there. I know it's available with a 3.6mm lens instead of the default...

USB webcam - 'no signal' for long time after restarting/etc

So, for what it's worth, it was an audio issue. For my use I just turned off audio for the camera but presumably if I'd taken the time to track down whatever drivers were needed it would have solved it as well. I guess BI keeps trying for like 10 minutes to figure out if there's audio available...

USB webcam - 'no signal' for long time after restarting/etc

I figured I'd go ahead and hang a cheap USB webcam (Logitech, 1080p, about 1 year old) off my BI PC so I can watch the room where it's located. But I'm getting a strange behavior with it where any time I restart BI this camera's feed it shows the dreaded 'No Signal' gray screen. Eventually -...

    cheap USB camera?

Yes, I was just wanting to do USB attached to the BI PC. I don't need amazing low-light abilities since I've got an IR illuminator I can flood the room with. But yes, I agree that its hard to find USB in that pricerange that's decent - which is why I'm asking I suppose. Just seems strange...

    cheap USB camera?

Anybody have a nice-but-cheap USB camera they can recommend? Figured I may as well hang a camera off the PC that's running BI, so as to keep an eye on the office where it's located. Currently have a webcam there but it has zero low-light or IR ability so I'm hoping to find something that's...

usb 'no signal' but works fine w/ Win10 Camera app

Sheesh. And then I walk away from it all and check my BI feed 45 minutes later and the camera's now showing properly. So... nevermind I guess. (though I still find it strange that Windows saw it immediately - piques my curiosity about what the difference is...)

usb 'no signal' but works fine w/ Win10 Camera app

I have a little USB camera that seems to stream images just fine when I bring up Windows 10's 'Camera' app but Blue Iris just gives me the gray 'No Signal' Error 80004005 () 1006 image. Have tried deleting and re-adding the camera a few times, tweaked settings within the 'video' section of the...

    Anybody using RadioRA2 + BI?

Anybody out there using both BI and a Lutron RadioRA2 lighting system in their house? In particular, I'm trying to figure out if there are any resources for how to trigger certain lighting events based on detected motion in specific cameras. Seems like it should be do-able but I'm hoping to get...

Best indoor camera for use with Blue Iris

yeah the eye has a definite tendency to think that contrast = sharpness. Should note that a truly fair test of image quality would be to make sure there's not some additional image processing (it looks like sharpening to me) being applied to the Annke that could maybe be turned off or modified...

Best indoor camera for use with Blue Iris

The Annke is definitely more contrasty (and maybe more saturated) but that's not necessarily meaning you're getting a better picture (more information on the scene). You can see that the darks go to black in the Annke vs still having some color detail in the Dahua, for example. Ultimately...

Best indoor camera for use with Blue Iris

Looks decent - maybe not quite as nice a pictures as the Annke but not bad. Googling, it looks like Annke is 85 degree FOV vs. 100 degree for the K35A which fits with the images shown. Did you have to do anything weird to get it running w/ BI? Any updating to firmware needed?
