    What are good Non-NVR/DVR/PC Cameras?

Hey guys, I didn't know where to post this, but I'm looking for a camera for my friend. She only needs one static camera for inside her apartment. She like the easy setup of the dropcam/nestcam but doesn't want to pay monthly or yearly fees. She has tasked me with this job. I did an install of...

Using POE IP camera as a peephole camera at the main entrance with a video monitor

Re: Using POE IP camera as a peephole camera at the main entrance with a video monito But then would the camera only be connected to the tablet, or will there still be some way for it to be connected to the NVR with rest of my surveillance system? Because my goal was to have have a POE IP...

    DS-2CD8254FWD-EIZ vs DS-2CD2232-I5 and a couple other Q's

If the issue is fog outside the camera, meaning you live in an area where foggy weather is frequent, then IR wouldn't be as good as a dedicated light. From what I remember on vehicles; You can probably look into light bulb that has less than 3000K temp rating. Probably 2500K, which is a yellow...

    DS-2CD8254FWD-EIZ vs DS-2CD2232-I5 and a couple other Q's

For night time, I suggest you invest some money into a good IR illuminater or have a couple of lights on. Infrared in the camera puts out decent light but if you want even better night time video, you'll need more illumination. I went with cat5e and cat6 because they didn't have much stock of...

Live view doesn't work Need some help

hmm I have my desktop running at my other place and I remotely controlled the computer and opened the link. It works on that computer which is in another province. So I think the issue is probably with my laptop and trying to tether the phone's internet to the laptop.

Wall mounting Turret and Mini-Dome cameras outside

Hey guys, I've installed all of my cameras, but one. I have installed Mini-dome cameras inside and outside. Inside they are ceiling mounted and the one on the patio is wall mounted. The patio wall mounted camera has a little roof on it, but still exposed to the rain and snow from the sides...

Live view doesn't work Need some help

Yes. I just rechecked those ports are open. And live view on the app works fine. The app wouldn't work if the ports weren't forwarded correctly, right?

Live view doesn't work Need some help

Hey guys, Everything was working fine for me before and I don't know what happened, but I can't seem to use live view via different IP address. Everything work on local address, but as soon as I tether my phone to the laptop, I don't get live view. I am able to login into my NVR's page but...

Using POE IP camera as a peephole camera at the main entrance with a video monitor

Re: Using POE IP camera as a peephole camera at the main entrance with a video monito I did consider the tablet route, but like you I thought about the latency over wifi. So that's why I was considering using that video out. What kind of resolution does that put out? The monitor that I will...

Using POE IP camera as a peephole camera at the main entrance with a video monitor

I have already installed 5 hikvision cameras around the house. I have been trying to find a way to get rid of the peephole in the door and put a camera outside and a monitor inside by the door dedicated to that camera. While also being a regular POE Ip cam running along with 5 existing hikvision...

Mounting 2532 onto cinderblock wall -- how I did it

I did something similar too. I wall mounted the mini dome camera and secured and weather sealed the cat5e cable.

Please design me a hikvision Security system for $1000

If you meet the right sales person, they can sell you stuff on ADI's account. They can sell this way to attract the person to ADI and open up an account in the future. Obviously if you do it 3-4 times they'll need to open an account.

Running/Fishing wires in a finished house is always fun

Am I? no, i got the cables coming right out of the holes, I will connect the POE cable to the camera and cover the holes with the camera. I looked at that, that would only work if you are pulling the cable from the top to bottom or vice versa. If you go horizontal to the wall then you will run...

Running/Fishing wires in a finished house is always fun

I spent 3-4 just trying to get these three connections to meet in one place. I went out and bought a cheap inspection camera and it helped A LOT. Drilling through Joists and studs was tough. Also went out and picked up a felxable drill bit 72" long. So yea it was fun. Any of you guys have...
