i want to install ip cam on top of the cash register area. most people recommended varifocal cams. i had in hand 2mp dahua varifocal 2.8 to 12mm outdoor model (DH-IPC-HFW2231T-ZS-S2)
but not very satisfied with the video quality.
Box cameras caught my attention with high frame rate. not sure if its the type for cash registers and such.
in general what would you guys recommend for such solution? open budget.
FPS rate
resolution
cmos sensor size
bitrate

blueiris system currently with 35 cams mostly 15fps operation 2mp with 4mbps bit rate.
thanks.

That is a good camera.
Have you spent time adjusting the settings to improve the picture?

yes i already read this thread, very informative. thats why i started buying 2mp cams with 1/2.8 or 1/2.7" sensors IR only and manual shutter speed optimization.
my main concern is cash register cams. should i go with box cameras high frame rate? box cameras tend to have better ram, better cpu, higher bandwidth and larger sensors. even 2mp comes with 1/1.8 sensors.

just bought it today to test. its a hikvision DS-2CD1723G0-I(Z) 2mp varifocal 1/2.7 sensor. kinda similar to the dahua DH-IPC-HFW2231T-ZS-S2 i tested few days ago, but cheaper. (both tested at 4096kbps 15fps 2mp)
my question is, how much of a difference would a box camera same 2mp but with 1/1.8 sensor perform?
or should i go with higher mp/higher fps for this kind of situation.
i saw some box cams go up to 100fps.

Indoors with a lot of light, you won't see the benefit of 2MP on a larger sensor.

Keep in mind it is shutter speed, not FPS that determines freeze frame captures.

And with the technology used in these types of cameras, I don't know if 100 FPS coupled with a fast shutter would actually be able to capture a money machine spitting out bills and counting how many it spit out.

What is your goal? Is it just to watch over?
