Yeah, I seen Smart IR was on under exposure after I posted the screenshots. I guess with that on, the manual illumination would not work as it should. Will make the necessary changes and report back tonight

Yep, that is why in Post #34 I asked if Smart IR was on - at that low height, that IR bounce will wreak havoc on the IR as you saw with the pulsating as the camera was trying to Smart IR to eliminate washout and will throttle back the amount of IR.

You will see a big improvement tonight in the amount of IR. You will probably have to manually tone it down due to the height, but you will get better control that way.

Smart IR works in certain situations, for many, manual is the way to go.

Yeah, I totally missed the setting under exposure, I just assumed it was under illuminator, my bad

As you zoom in, the area of focus can get smaller and give that soft or out of focus in other areas.

I will usually autofocus and then change the focus step from 20 to 1 and do incremental manual adjustments to find the optimal focus for my intended target as sometimes the auto focus may decide to focus on something near or far from your intended focus distance.

Yep, there definitely is a science to this shhh --- stuff and a lot of experimenting

Ok,

IR is blasting! Need to try and angle it up more. Lot of reflection off the pavement

Shutter - 1/100, gain 30 - 60

Now we are talking! I told you the IR worked and it was a settings issue ;)

You might be close enough that angle that up a bit and good some decent driver shots. It will be impossible to get most, buy you might stand half a chance. Especially the slow perps looking for stuff.

That alone is worth the effort and experimentation!

I forget, are the LEDs at the bottom of the turrets? If so, it might be helpful to install it upside down to gain a little distance between the LEDs and the ground, to keep it from being blasted with the reflection. If you do flip it over, you will then adjust the rotation in the GUI settings.

No joy on flipping the camera, it makes no perceivable difference.

I would like to find an IR spot similar to the one circled in the photo below to mount to the driveway side of the post. Any ideas?

You could get this IR spot that also triples as a camera.

If you go back to page one, you'll see why that isn't a good solution to this problem
