Toothpaste is one my biggest gripes, most have gone to 75ml as their standard size but the box remains the same size and the price has gone up to take into account consumer inflation.
At Christmas my wife also buys tubs of stuff like biscuits and chocolates and they have steadily been reducing in size by reducing the height of the tubs.

I'm sure the piece size is smaller but they finally got it right selling them in a 5 gallon bucket!

4 month difference, 36 oz. to 28 oz. I didn't record the June price. From memory it was very close to the current price. if the prices were identical, it would be a 31% increase.
For several years I've bought the tiny "sample" size of Dawn because the cost per ounce wasn't much different than the big bottle but mainly because about the time its spout was getting nasty it was empty and I could toss it and open a new full bottle with a clean spout.
They've risen in price from $1 each to $1.22 in the last 2 years, a 22% increase in price for the same volume but here's the latest, bought last week: the price is still $1.22 at Wally World BUT the size has shrunk from 7.5 oz. to 5.8 oz. , a 22% decrease in volume for the same price! The only "good news" here is that there is a noticeable difference in size unless you're not paying attention.
So that's 44% total shrink-inflation for this product in 2 years...22% cost increase, 22% volume decrease.

You can get a 90oz bottle for $9.98 at our local Sam's Club. Same price now as it was back in Sept.
Dang...I'd probably get a hernia picking up a 90 oz. bottle!

Toilet paper company spending millions to convince us how much better they are now that the perforations are wavy. Never mentioning how much skinnier they are.
That's exactly what I was talking about in my post in this very same thread! But your roll looks even smaller, maybe 1/2" !

Thanks to the current WH Admin, we're all seeing prices go up and on items that appear outwardly to not have increased much but are, in fact, very deceptive. The manufacturers think we're all idiots (but some of us are) and instead of increasing the price, or in conjunction with it, they just...

4-1/2 wide TP is now only in the "premium" brands. Costco is still 4-1/2.

oh, yeah I remembered the post! I just pulled the old roll out of the trash and it is 4-1/2". The new one is 4". The cardboard roll was the same size though. Both were from Costco (probably). There is a lot of advertising going on about the wavy perforations. Distract you with that and you might not notice the smaller size.Note that toilet paper is about 1/4" narrower than it was a couple of years ago AND the cardboard roll is getting bigger!

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that this probably isn't such a bad thing for some of us! But its WHY they have to, is the real problem.

here prices going down , still higher than 2022 but cheaper than 2023

I started the year with a new TOTO K300 bidet set and as a consequence, one roll of toilet paper is now lasting me about 5-6 months (as the sole user of that toilet).
