The specifications say 1020P with 6 channels at 1020P and 8 channels at 720P. So if I hook up 8 cameras does that mean all 8 will be at 720P resolution? Right now I am looking at a variation of 6 or 7 of the 2032 cameras and maybe 1 or 2 of the Huisun 10x PTZ mini bullet. Thanks, Allen

Hmmmm. So what is the best way to get 8 channels at 1080P? Maybe buy an additional NVR 4 channel unit which would give me 10 at 1080P? Trying to think of a way around this. I don't think 6 cameras will work for what I want to do.

you will better of buying the NEWER I2 DS-7608NI-I2/8P, as it support 8-ch (Up to 12 MP resolution & 4-ch @ 4K, or 16-ch @ 1080p)

Thanks Andy., I have an inquiry into Melisa for pricing and availability. I have already ordered the other unit but will put it up for sale at a discount if Melisa can come through for me. Then again it would make a good back up unit. I will have to think about it.

I finally got a quote from China on the Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P. The price is $379 with a 30 day lead time. I don't think this is a popular model yet so the price is still up there. However it does look like it will fill my needs.

Slightly confused at the specs. I originally had the DS-7608NI-E2/8P and just upgraded to the DS-7616NI-E2/8P. I have 8 cameras and all are recording at (3MP) 2048x1536. Am I missing something as to the specs?

E2/E4 is the old model's, the newer I2/I4 are model's that supports higher bitrates.

ok, should have said UK has to be the first. but i would never buy Chinese models, no warranty / support for UK. Not to mention the Firmware issues (flashing to english etc).

According to the manufacturers specs the DS-7616NI-E2/8P with 8 cameras reverts to the 720P format, 6 cameras at the 1080 format and 16 channels at the 4CF format. So if I understand the specifications right with 8 cameras it reverts to the 720P format. That is why I am interested in the DS-7608NI-I2/8P. It records in the higher format. 4-ch@8MP, 8-ch@4MP and 16-ch@1080P
