Only a couple cameras - all HIK - but it's triggering motion and made the product unusable. If I watch the direct camera feed and the BI screen side-by-side - there is no smear on the direct camera interface.

I updated to 4.1.9.1 x64 and first noticed the smearing. Downloaded (through the VERY SLOW link BI has) 4.1.9.2 - problem remains.

Attached is a screencap of three separate times (over about 10 min) that I was able to capture.

Any thoughts?

@ClarkeTry increasing the receive buffer to 10-20mb for each camera.
Done - all three cameras with "smear effect" now at 20MB buffer. Smear effect remains. It's happening at least three or four times a minute on two cameras and occasionally on a third. No smearing that I've noticed on the other five cameras..

Also CPU is between 40-50%. Free memory 8GB on a four-core box that's been running without this problem for close to a year...

I would email support. Also check to see that the iframe interval matches the frame rate in your cameras.

Ken looked at my camera feed today. He said he would be releasing a change overnight with some adjusted parameters... Looking forward to being able to use BlueIris's motion sensing function again!

New update did not solve the problem - but it does seem to have lessened the frequency a bit. BI is still unusable to me until I get a fix (or roll back to an older version that doesn't have whatever change was made in the past month or two that's made my HD camera feeds smear.

Hoping Ken can continue to work on a fix. I can't be the only person this is happening to?

4.2.1 just killed the video feed on my Trivision cameras. 4.1.9 was working great and it's my fault for updating but I can't seem to find a way to roll back the update. The video is smeared as you mentioned and it's only the 4 Trivision cameras that are now completely useless but at least the Logitec camera is working at the moment.

Run an older update file and it will revert back. It is important not to update immediately after a new version is released. Particularly when significant changes are made.

Reverting back did not work in my case. I'm pulling down the latest version which Ken has indicated has another setting being rolled back which might help. Will update when I know more.

Smearing fixed in 4.2.1.1. No more smears - but the cameras are still triggering like crazy on motion. I haven't had a chance to play much with the sensitivity adjustments to see if that fixes it - but at least the smears are gone! Still unusable - but at least no more corrupted views.

For me, things were fixed in version 4.2.2. No more smears and everything seems to be working well.

Mine is tearing like that now also. Using V4.1.6.2 and it just seem to start recently. Also getting 2 of the cameras disconnecting randomly. I been playing with bitrate and fps, but doesn't seem to help. The 2 cameras also giving errors on mismatch when I change the F-stop to 6. Need more light at night from surrounding home landscape lighting so I open up the timing more to take it and then the yellow error dots start blinking. I will update blue iris and see if this tearing gets repaired. Sure wish Blue Iris would post their version number on the download page. This sort of sucks that you need to download it and find it out. ALso should post a detailed update page to give the changes that they made to software incase of these issues on screen like the post started with.

I also noticed that at night, while not using IR, my FPS drop to about 7fps. CPU usage is like 26% with 3 bullet cams running. The one camera I keep IR on is close to 30fps. During day all cameras at 30fps.

In the camera match the i-frame interval to the frame rate.
The night issue is likely related to the camera. Many cheaper cameras drop frame rates in low light..

This happened to me I rebooted the camera and it fixed it was not anything to do with BI

This is set to 50 right now, so your saying to move it to 30, correct???

After updating to BI's new download 4.2.2.2, the tearing has stopped completely. The software has some resetting of sensitivity and I am presently tweaking these to my car traffic and shadows. The initial start of the software, the cameras were making rectangles like crazy, but I have calmed it down quite a bit.

As for the frame rate dropping at night time in non IR mode, Could it possibly be that the camera is designed to run IR at night and if it is not on, it somehow defaults down to 7 fps because it thinks there is a really low light level. IR light really floods an area and I imagine easily triggers the photo sensors in the cam, verses visual light that we see as helpful during night. I contacted BI tech about this and I can't remember what he said about this, I need to check emails. The minute I turn IR on, the FPS jump up to their specified settings and the bitrate remains the same in either setting.

Dropping fps occurs at night only in F6, non IR, 1280x720. The BI software does not have my specific screen setting of 1600x900.
3x Hikvision DS-2CD2032-1-524070056

I have restarted system, software, installed new software, etc...Perhaps I will try another software just for a test and see if it also causes a drop in FPS when set in this non IR mode. I have some testing I think to check what it is not.

I apologize if I have jacked the thread, perhaps I should of started my own if I go further about this. :shame:

In the example here, you can see I have plenty of available non IR light in the front and south side of home. The driveway has lower light and uses IR

Yes, drop it to 30...
As far as the low fps, this happens in some cameras that may be adjusting the exposure automatically for low light/night. It may also be a result of the extra noise that increases bandwidth(because its deemed a change in the image)...BI doesnt know or care about the IR state, so if turning on the IR brings back the frame rate, then its camera related. What camera is it?

Did some testing with the exposure settings while at night with IR off. Starting at 1/6, then 1/12 and finally 1/30 and strangely the FPS increased on each step.

I have 3 Hikvision DS-2CD2032-1-524070056 cameras with one more arriving soon.

1/6 - 7.0 fps
1/12 - 15.0 fps
1/30 - 30.0 fps

I kind of see a pattern here, as I adjusted these exposure settings. I did have to increase brightness and gain as I moved from 1/6 to 1/30 and the image became more grainy too. So I tried to find a balance which still had some remnants of grain movements in the video. This tells me there is a lack of light problem when IR is off on the camera and using 1/6 is causing the camera to slow the sending of information.
I am trying to stay away from using the IR on the camera because it is like a red beacon waving at a would be thief. You can even use a cell phone with the cell camera on and see these glows of IR leds on cameras like spot lights. This has good and bad circumstances because it could possibly discourage a thief from breaking the law, but it could also cause them to vandalize the cameras. They could just cover themselves with a hood or similar until out of view. I am going to look into IR flood lights, place them in a couple spots that are hidden and secure. This will give me the light needed to keep IR off on cameras and keeping the cameras cloaked while giving me the light needed to keep FPS in the range of 30.

Anyway, I am going to move myself to the hikvision threads because I have some other questions to post about on settings and I feel I jacked this thread which I apologize for :shame: . Going to search the forum for information so I can try not to duplicate any responses.
I notice here on this forum that some of the related answers I look for seem to go on for pages and pages which is very frustrating. Perhaps there is a way that the administrator here could create an area in this forum, kind of like a WIKI for IP camera facts based on the final answers given within some of these multi page responses. The info is great here, but the reading is time consuming. In a WIKI type fact area for specific questions people seem to ask the most... Just place links within the subject areas to help guide them to the meat of their request. The WIKI area would only be stickies of condensed facts.

I moderate for a forum that has a WIKI fact information section and it helps a lot. The area is monitored by moderators and edited by the admin/moderators that help maintain a much more condensed form of the facts to search through. This is just a suggestion that IMO could help with directing new members and noobs like me. :)
