Hello,
anyone knows if there is any way to buy an additional license in order to increase max num of cams?
I mean, NVR4208-4KS2 only support 8 cams while the NVR4216-4KS2, that apparently shares the same hardware and costs just1-2% more, supports 16 cams. It seems to be just a license difference not an hardware one. So I would like to know if it is possible to buy some kind of license to handle up to 16 cams on my NVR4208-4KS2.

Are you sure? All three models, 16/8/32 have the same incoming bandwidth (200 Mbps). All specifications and/or limitations are the same, so I don't think they have different cpu speed and/or system memory size. All models share the same decoding limitation that is "Up to 2ch@4K/8ch@1080P decoding" ...
It seems to be just a fw limitation.

For some hikvision NVR it's real 4 can be 8 & 16.
One 8 ch NVR i made 16 & 32 with 100mb LAN but there are nuances ;)

For dahua some old model 5XXX without 4K 8 or 16 can be flashed to 32 (special ship)

Of course for some model possible to do software patch, but who need this? ;)

The solution is simple, buy a second registrar and thereby expand the depth of the archive and do not strain, or put all your eggs in one basket by buying a 16-channel recorder and 8-channel registrar sell!
