Is there a way to use the iOS app if this happens again? Was getting Key is Invalid error. Now that blueirissoftware.com is back up the iOS app functions normally.

Does your router offer DDNS? If you have an Asus router then you can use DDNS for free. There are other free services like no-ip, but you have to verify via an email once a month. I'm currently looking into solutions to offer free DDNS to IPCT / BIT users

Is the behavior not just the iOS app connecting to the BlueIris Windows server which is then connecting to blueirissoftware.com and when it can't connect it tells the iOS app there's no key available? How does a ddns service fit into this? Don't understand. Thanks for the reply--always appreciate your help!

iOS-->BlueIris server on premises-->blueirissoftware.com license verification

It is not verifying your license. When's blueiris is installed and activated it does not need an internet connection. The reason why it mentions a license key is because you are using your license key in the app to update your IP address. This is a free service similar to ddns provided by blueiris. If you actually entered your external IP it would work no problem. All the blueiris website is doing is telling the app what your current IP address is.

Ah! Ok thank you. Forgot I had set that a while ago. I'm not even using external IPs, only OpenVPN local IPs. Thanks!!!

if you are using vpn, you should set BOTH the wan and lan ip fields in the blue iris ip to your LOCAL ip address.
In the about tab UNCHECK register ip adderss to assist with client connections
