Great video, I laughed my butt off several times!

It amazes me when you see that not all thieves are tweakers, homeless, etc....by that I mean like that chick in I think the 3rd one....did you see what a nice kitchen area she was in? Christmas decorations, pretty appliances, etc. ? I'll bet she didn't pay for a lot of her smaller appliances.

And the guy in his car with a cross necklace hanging from his rear view mirror? C'mon, man. You're a thief....repent!

Awesome.

A pound of ultra fine glitter would be pretty difficult to clean up.
With some luck the package thieves will be finding glitter for years to come and get a nice recurring reminder to make better life choices.
I may be an asshole, but I'd have hard a hard time resisting the temptation to mix a bit of a relatively safe chemical that stains skin with the glitter and adding a little more vertical spray.

I've thought of building a bait package with a polyurethane foam payload. CO2 and glitter could also be a fun cheap option.

I lost my design for a bait bike to a hard drive failure years ago. That's probably for the best as far as the lawyers are concerned :(

Glitter!

Toner.. ever had to clean up a toner spill???

They come now in colors... Cyan and / or Yellow are nice... yup, that's a good payload.

And the icing on the cake? I think the fart spray helps to assure the package's immediate discard outdoors which increases the likelihood of its retrieval and reuse....all thought out and executed VERY well, IMO.

What disturbed me was the police saying they couldn't be bothered with the original package theft. Basically making package theft a non-crime, at least in that town.

My other thought would be to add a spray of Super Glue along with the glitter spray to make it a little more "difficult" to clean up. Really a nicely engineered package though!

Yeah, this fact (or attitude) is spreading like a virus across our great nation, especially in the larger metro areas where an overwhelming percentage of crimes are drug-related. It just eats up their resources, leaving no one to respond to these "victimless" crimes.

In a perfect world, the pirates would start to rip-off packages that belong to mayors, city council members, police chiefs and captains, county supervisors, county sheriffs and deputies AND their own close personal family members......then and only then would you possibly see a change in their approach to these and other thieves, IMO.

I DETEST THIEVES! :angry:

I'd add a squirt or two of Sabre Red pepper spray for good measure.

Indeed @awsum140 - would be nice they would at least try to do something with the video evidence.

I suspect part of the reason is the quality of the evidence. The Nest camera video clips have no time stamps, and are positioned too high - thus making them poor for evidence.

I know when I started the local police told me they would only follow up on cases like this where I had evidence which would be useful for them to properly ID the suspect, or if the suspect was known to me.

I had a disappointing experience about 3 weeks ago. The wife and I went into a week-old, new Tra**or Su**ly near us; she headed toward the back to get her mom a bag of cat food, I hung around up front looking at tools. On our way in I noticed a tech working on some brand new theft detector stuff one must pass thru when exiting; it senses those big, black round circular boxes that are crimped around the higher priced portable goodies.
Suddenly a guy in his late 50's/early 60's almost 6 ft. tall with a ball cap, etc. walked past me briskly, glanced toward the checkout registers and headed out the door...he knew the anti-theft stuff was not online yet. He had a double armful of large LED light bars for 4x4 grills and roofs; maybe 5 of them, each at least 2 feet long....several hundred dollars worth.

<EDIT: I knew they detach those black boxes/cables at the register so I knew something was amiss.>

I followed him outside, got his vehicle description and his license plate. Walked back in, told the manager, gave them the info, etc.
This Tuesday was in there again and asked the clerk, she was familiar with it and remembers me. I asked if she knew the outcome and she said the cops didn't pursue it (even with my description, plates, their store video) because "....the plates probably are stolen".

How do you know they're NOT if you don't run them? And they match the vehicle? What a shame.

You and I pay for that when we go in there to buy something...we pay for the shoplifting. @#$% thieves! :banghead:

If he had used something nastier than glitter or at least told his friends that he did, it's more likely the pirates would have all been genuine.

Cyan toner, ultra fine pink glitter, curry powder, and itching powder would be a fun mix.
