Guys, I've spent several days working on this. I post here as a last resort.

Blue Iris 4.4.9.5 crashes when recording is triggered. These crashes appear to be caused by recording. When I disable recording on my cameras the crashing stops and BI is stable.

I have swapped the disks BI records to, rebuilt the BI database, reinstalled C+++, tried half a dozen different video drivers, ran chkdsk /f, and stepped back/downgraded several Blue Iris versions...all to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this may be happening?

Thanks. I just used a garden hose to wash out the motherboard and case, so that's not the issue. Anyone else? Any ideas at all?

uninstall reinstall

Thank you. Unfortunately I've uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled Blue Iris 3-times; no workee for me.

Anything else? I really do not want to reinstall Windows 10. It's taken me month's to get this Win10 installation where I want it.

try system restore?
Are you running anything else on this system other than BI? Have you emailed support?

Yes System Restore is something I have not tried. Will do that and we shall see, eh?

Is windows update in the running state? check your last update verses when this issue started. I have seen windows update corrupt users profiles in windows 10 by the boatload. I have seen users accounts degraded from administrator to regular user accounts so they cannot even do a system restore. If you are at the end of your rope you might want to create another admin account and try BI through it. Just a thought Q Man.

Thanks for all of the suggestions fellas. I will try them all, except for loonet2ns. Here's another tidbit. The crashing happens every time a camera starts recording...but ONLY when Direct-To-Disk is enabled. The crashes do not occur when Re-encoding is set to H.264 (instead of direct-to-disk).

So what is it about direct to disk that causes the Win10 crash?

Resolved.

...This looks like H.265 encoding ... are you recording an H.265 camera direct to disc?...

Ding! Well I don't know!...but when I looked I saw that the H265 Codec was enabled in each of the cameras which was crashing (these were new cameras which came with the H265 Codec enabled).

I logged into each camera with my web browser and changed each camera's codec to H264, re-enabled direct-to-disk and there was joy.

There is joy.

Yep. I just hit this same issue... still not fixed.

I reported it as a bug to BI, but H.265 is still not working properly - we'll see if there's anybody home.

Ken is aware of the issue but don't hold your breath waiting for it to get fixed.

Actually, I received a reply from BI Support already today asking for remote access to the camera, so looks like they're going to have a look.
