x64 Crashing

My old computer crashed and burned, it was 9 years old anyway...

So I got an Asus Z97/A USB 3.1 Motherboard, with an i7 4790K CPU and 32 Gigs of ram.

I do have an email into support with this info, as I killed my license using it over and over installing and uninstalling, now I need my license reset. :sad2:

Just thought I'd see if anyone here knew what was going on.

32bit version works fine, the 64 bit version gets this error upon startup:

The only thing I've done is installed Windows 7 Pro x64. Installed the network driver, Google Chrome, video driver, and then Blue Iris. The video card is the same one I was using on the old computer.

Ok, just got email from Ken. He doesn't have any leads on what this problem is, and only one other person has reported this same problem. So I guess I'll just use the 32 bit version until MS decides to give me Windows 10 for free.

Anyone run Blue Iris on 10 yet?

I briefly tested it on 10 for a few hours...ran fine...
as far as 64 bit..unless you are running out of memory on the 32 bit, there is no benefit of running 64...

Thats right. No benefit from running 64 bit Blue Iris unless you are actually seeing out of memory errors (which happen at over 2 GB of utilization).

Also, you say you are using the graphics card from the old PC. Chances are you are better off without it; Intel's integrated graphics have come a long way in the past years. Depending on what graphics card you are talking about, it may be faster to use onboard graphics now, and it will certainly be more efficient with power and generate less heat.

I think I may have jumped the gun on this. Was looking at the error, and other people with other software getting the same error revealed that installing SP1 cured it. Something about MSVCR120.dll not being the right version. Not at home right now, but I'm pretty sure I'm pre SP1 right now. I still have more parts for the computer on the way, and everything will get re-installed this weekend. I didn't want to get all into upgrades and tweaking just to do it all over in a few days. That's probably the issue here.

The graphics card is a relatively new VisionTek Radeon HD 7750 Eyefinity 6, which has 6 DisplayPorts on the back, so running the integrated video is a no-go.

Nice. 6 displayports! That card should be fine if you have a need for it. It won't necessarily help with Blue Iris but I don't expect it to cause any problems either.

I've been running Blue Iris since last August with that video card. No problems whatsoever. There's huge amounts of research and writing that goes on here, so lots of screens makes life much easier. I'll check back in this weekend after I get the whole computer running and let everyone know if it was SP1 that I needed. In case someone else ever has the same problem. I'm almost certain that's the problem. I did learn to run demo mode until it works though, THEN put in the license. LOL

Ok, everything except the case and the ups showed up for the new computer today, so the re-install fun begins!

Blue Iris x64 is running just fine now.

So if you get the error I got above, just install SP1 and all the updates after it. You should be fine.

Now I get to restore ~700 gigs from the cloud. :eagerness:
