As far as I can tell from older posts, it should be possible to run BI5 on fully patched 2008 R2 but after multiple tries with visual studio installs, following recommendations on older posts, and trying early installers I've got no dice. I've tried using proc mon too but I'm not sure of all the filters I should be applying to see where it's going wrong.

Support told me that it was just too old but if that's the case how did people get it working before?

Is anyone currently running on or has run on R2? How did you make it past this?

Any ideas to make this work are welcome.

The program is continously updated, at least monthly.
It has had many updates since the time of Windows 2008, It was released in.....you guessed it 2008.
If support told you that, why would you question it.
Purchase a new machine and move on.

If this does not make it run, then it is likely you'd have to go back to a much older version of Blue Iris.

Server 2008 R2 is the server equivalent of Windows 7, which I still have running on a few blue iris boxes in the wild that are running near-latest BI 5.x. But the Server OS will have some differences and there's no telling which ones might cause Blue Iris to fail to run.
