Wildlife Cam

Until I get power and internet out at the new bay house, I was thinking about putting up a wildlife cam.


Any suggestions on a wildlife cam?

I have just stuck a camera up to see what the local wildlife are up to at night

I think he is referring to a trail camera hidden away.. I got a cheap one that was on sale from a local retail store.. was affordable and seems to work well.. its got a big ass flash on it though and wouldn't be good for remote security at all.. any trespassers at night would see the flash and take the camera.

now days it sits inside the cat door in a garage window hooked to a power outlet; it gives me a timestamp of there comings and goings incase one turns up missing I can check the last time they went through the door.. lost a couple to Coyotes over the years.

I guess these cams are battery powered and take stills rather than video ?

yeah, wildlife/trail cameras are just still cameras (some can do short video clips) w/a PIR motion sensor and are battery powered (w/solar for long term).

Best bet is determine your budget and then lurk through the amazon reviews for one with IR flash instead of a white flash.

Maybe a proximity alarm of some kind would be better...
