Where to buy DS-2CD2352WD-I Hikvision Turret 5Mp Camera?

Hi,

Any genuine resellers of the new 5mp Hikvision Turret? There's a few sellers on Aliexpress, but they refer to it as EXIR cam or Hik Cam, no mention of Hikvision.

So I thought i'd ask on here what anyone can suggest.

EXIR is what Hikvision calls their IR technology on their turret cameras. From what I gather, Hikvision is trying to crack down on AliExpress sellers. Do you care if you get the Chinese version?
 
if you live in USA. buy from LTS or HUNT, they are OEM of hik. I have a 5mp at home...not impress at all. and it digital WDR. not true wdr.
 
The first 5MP Hikvision turret was a Chinese only model that had a low max fps. Seems like the 2352 is the real English version with higher fps that has been available from LTS for awhile. Regardless, I don't remember anyone saying they liked their 5MP.

Is it worth sticking with a DS-2CD2342WD-I 4MP then? I have one in the 2.8mm lens, which is terrible in low light, so thought the new 5MP one would be better all round.

I might just stick with the DS-2CD2342WD-I and get it in a 6mm lens instead. Anyone recommend a genuine supplier at a good price in the UK?

if you want good low light. get a 2mp darkfighter series. but cost will be double or more.

If you're interested in better pictures in low light, and you want to stay with Hik, you probably want to follow this thread:

The new cameras from Dahua and Hikivision that do best in low-light all have fewer MP (2MP) and a much larger sensor (1/2.8) in them.

This combination allows the sensor to capture more photons, which results in a significantly better nighttime picture.

I'm switching from a Hikvision 3MP dome to the Dahua 2MP 5231 turrets. At night, the Dahua obliterates the Hik. It's not even close. During the day, I'd say the Hik is a slight bit more sharp, but not enough to be of any advantage. So for me, the best all around is the 2MP Dahua.

Some info that may help:

I've got a 4MP 4mm Hikv DS-2CD2342WD-I and a Dahua HDW5231R-Z mounted together with the Dahua set to match the FOV of the Hik. I've been adjusting settings on both comparing their performance at night (locked in colour at a minimum 1/25th second exposure) and during the day. I honestly don't like the Dahua during the day- comparing them on a 55" 4K TV screen. At night, the Dahua gives excellent still shots, but when I've walked outside and then watched the footage it's hard to pick between it's slightly better illumination of low light areas with lower resolution and less visible noise- but also less detail vs slightly less illumination, more detail- but with more noise. I get the impression Dahua have better low light noise reduction in their firmware, but you do sacrifice detail on moving subjects in very low light. I haven't updated the firmware on the Dahua and am limited to Australian region firmware on the Hik (which means there are little to no updates.)

If you're using them in night mode (with IR enabled) be aware the HDW5231R-Z doesn't have good IR spread at it's wider focal settings. You get a "hot spot" in the middle and little to no illumination at the edges of the scene. With a 2.8mm DS-2CD2342WD-I (which I replaced the HDW5231R-Z with) I get better full screen night vision using it's inbuilt IR. The HDW5231R-Z did a lot better job in another position (with the on-board IR) where I used the varifocal almost fully zoomed in. So if you're looking at say 60 degrees or wider IMHO you'd be better with a fixed lens option (Hikvision or Dahua do make a fixed lens version of the 2MP Starlight Turret.)

I've got two DS-2CD2325FWD-I on order and will be comparing them to the 2MP Starlight when they arrive.

Could you please let us know what the DS-2CD2325FWD-I is like when you get it?

I have both the DS-2CD2342WD-I 3MP and DS-2CD2352WD-I 4MP in 2.8mm and the 52WD is far worse at night than the 2342.

Was considering the 2MP DS-2CD2325FWD-I or the Duhua, so please let me know which is better when u get the new Hik
 
Yes, it is a bit like a roller coaster. Keep in mind I'm using mine locked in colour and using visible light around the house (3 x 10 Watt LED floodlights). So I'm pushing their colour capabilities to the limits. I'm also, viewing them on a 55" 4K TV using the NVR's 4K HDMI output. I will probably notice (be more critical) of noise and fine detail that wouldn't be picked up on your average 1080P computer monitor. I noticed last night if you enable WDR on the 5231 it locks out manual exposure options longer than 40ms (1/25th second) which matches what Hikvision does on the DS-2CD2342WD-I. With WDR off you can set up to 330ms on the 5231, nice for still shots only...

The 4MP DS-2CD2342WD-I (2.8mm or 4MM - I've got both) gives me noticeably better day time images. I have to look into that further on the HDW5231R-Z's settings. There are strange idiosyncrasies like the daytime image goes all white/ washed out/ hazy unless you increase the contrast up to around 50%.
 
No. They haven't even shipped yet. I was told there's a 2 week delay to get them into stock then delivery by DHL should be 5 odd business days.

Wonder if they'll stay in high demand (with delays like this) similar to how it how it's been going with the 5231 turrets over the past few months.
