Where is bvr direct to disc audio stored?

I want to upload to YT or Vimeo without using BI convert/export for highest quality (to avoid multiple encodings) but it's missing audio. I can playback the bvr file format in BI and audio exists. I'm guessing the audio stream is stored separately from the bvr file and added back in during BI convert/export. Is it possible to access the audio file? I tried with/without FLAC audio compression.
BI 4.4.9.4 x64

Not really a solution (can't play video while recording) but I switched to mp4 format and installed K-Lite codec to fix the problem with unable to open file: 80040154 error message. I find it odd that many of my other video players and browsers can play mp4 files without installing extra codecs.
