I’ve just got an old Buffalo TeraStation with 4 6Tb drives installed, find that we don’t actually use it that much these days as we tend to stream and only really use it for backups.
I have an old HP Proliant MicroServer N54L using Open Media Vault (OMV). It has 4 10TB drives in a RAID 5 config. I only turn it on to perform backups, which is about 5 times a year. I back up my Plex storage, linux and windows workstation data.
I used to have a NAS, running OpenMediaVault, but no one but me in the household was using it for file sharing & backup.
Waste of power having another device powered on. I use the hdd with a usb adaptor into my computer now.
