What to do with footage when the cops don't want it!

Too small a crime for them to bother I guess. The "broken windows" theory of policing is a lost technique now.
When I saw the title I said to myself "Bet he is in California"...Yep I was right LOL.
More reason to have cameras. BTW the same type of thing happened with my friend in Rural SW Missouri.
But if the police won't do anything, would good is more cameras?
Post it up on something like NextDoor. Maybe if the pos is known by everyone in the neighborhood, he might mysteriously be found bound, gagged, and bloodied.
I have enough cameras to deter some thieves, but not this guy, hopefully he was just passing through. At least we had video of what happened and what the guy looked like. He took a dirty barely working 12v engine oil pump and a $1 Christmas flag.

Getting comfortable
This is an opportunity for home automation! You could get your camera system (Blue Iris?) to talk to your smart home (HomeSeer?). Then when a camera is triggered you can kick off an announcement on a used Sonos speaker mounted outside somewhere. That would go along way to deterring a brazen thief like that one

Burglars run after getting fright on their life
I recently have a security system with a speaker connected to an axis audio module connected the the outputs of my NVR. Here 2 burglars get the fright of their life when looking into my cars. It's always better to prevent things from happening in stead of dealing with the aftermath.

Thanks everyone. This happened a couple x-masses back and I did post on ND at that time. I am new on the forum and just posted it here. I was so frustrated at the time that I took the footage and made a video from my NVR. My cloud based Kuna does record video in color at night, records audio and allow me to speak or send different prerecorded sounds. I usually don't set it to make noise except at Halloween when I can make it say "happy halloween". I really like it as an extra to the NVR. Probably similar to a Ring? For some reason I did not hear the alert when this guy came by, which is probably good.
best to still make a police report even if nothing comes from it. If that visitor happens through again... more 'evidence' the better.
Yes the police took a report over the phone and were told about the video. That was the end of it.
