What the best/proper way to make use of a WD Purple drive?

I just bought a used elitedesk on ebay and if came with a 500GB drive.
I bought a 4TB WD Purple drive.

Whats the best way to make use of the purple drive with blue iris?

Install an SSD for the operating system blueiris and the database file.. store recorded video on the purple Drive

does the size matter for the SSD? would 500GB be good?
so i would have windows loaded on the SSD and Blueiris on the SSD and then in Blueiris make changes to save all video on the purple drive or just to have it move the older videos to the purple drive?

256 is more than enough for the SSD... Save all video directly to the purple Drive... Leave the database file on the SSD

Even a 128 GB SSD is fine. That's what I happened to have laying around. I have a fresh install of Win10 and BI on the SSD and they're only consuming 21.5 GB of space.
