I have a few IPC-Color4K-T180 from empire tech that i bought last year and they are great around the house now i want to upgrade my PTZ that i got in 2014 it's a dahua 2mp 30X. I've been looking at the new TandemVu or X-Spans-Series since they come with a 180 camera.

Currently my PTZ is on a pole along with two T180s and that gives me a view of the property as it's flat with no trees. I get hunters and deer, some cows. lots of animals The old PTZ needs more reach and better image as it's really showing it's age, night time could be better and it has to be POE powered and would be great if it followed someone around....not sure how that would work with BI.

It seems most of these have a 1/1.8" sensor.

I have a budget of $2k.

For what it's worth I would get an

IP4M-1083EW-AI-V2

32X Optical Zoom and will likely pick up about anything on your property if setup properly. I prefer to not have my PTZ's constantly scanning in favor of a few fixed cameras. I mainly use the PTZ to zoom in on a topic of interest when needed. You can also setup the fixed cameras to trigger the PTZ to then move to that area. Just depends on your abilities and needs.

That is why i was looking at the x-spans or TandemVu cams as they have a fixed wide cam that works with the PTZ to zoom in on whatever.

I don't think they work with BI though. There is not much info on the forms about them. Hikvision has so many different versions.

BI just records whatever the camera sends it. It will take a channel for each camera. You can still trigger BI with ONVIF triggers.

What should i go for then the biggest sensor size 1/1.8" sensor?

If you don't mind the price tag that looks like a great camera. As long as the tracking feature can be picked up on the 180 degree view and then transfer to the PTZ for zooming in and tracking automatically that would fit my requirements. I have a couple 180 degree cams on my ranch and they work awesome but sometimes I want to zoom in on only one section of the image. That camera would do that.

In my case I tried to stick to a budget less than $400 per camera but you do get what your paying for in that one.

Unless you have light, on a PTZ you want to stay on the ideal MP/sensor ratio.

8MP on a 1/1.8" sensor will severely limit the distance it can see at night unless you run default/auto shutter.
