What is this unusual dome camera accessory?

Hello Everyone,

I live in an apartment building that has recently changed ownership. Management has installed dome cameras around the property and one of them is right outside my apartment. Unlike all the others, the one outside my apartment also has a distinct circular device mounted on a pole that is turned 3/4 towards my apartment balcony.

Can anyone please tell me what this is? I thought perhaps it's a motion sensor, but since all the other cameras around the property don't have anything like this, I'm wondering if it's something else.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

Looks like a wireless access point which would keep them from having to run an ethernet cable to that camera. The AP and camera would still need electric to the location.
Thanks, that makes sense! There is also a camera on the opposite side of the building attached to the side of a similar concrete wall without an AP. But if their monitoring room is on that side of the building, they probably don't need the AP because it's close enough to pick up their wireless signal.
