View recording off HDD without NVR

Hi,

i am just wondering, is it possible to view recording off the HDD without the NVR?

I no longer have the NVR and haven't as yet connected the HDD to the PC so not sure what format to expect and whether i will be able to view through the PC.

Any ideas?

Hikvisions tools come with local playback.
It only works when you have mounted the HDD on the local PC and it finds it and then it can playback the footage just like the nvr would.
